I have cycled out from Pollensa to Sa Calobra then descend and climb back up ..but I find it much more enjoyable to get the uplift to the filling station from Mallorca Cycle Shuttle..gets you up there before all the traffic starts (so no buses or cars on your climb) and its way cooler so makes the climb back all the more pleasant ..then onward for the rest of your days cycling.

I did Sa Calobra on 30th May, got the last shuttle bus before they stop for June-September inclusive, made a huge difference having done Femenia-Sa Batalla loops from Pollensa in the days before NOT having that extra 700m/30k, and was on the bike from the Repsol garage at Lluc by twenty to nine, and heading up Sa Calobra at 10am....I did it in 50m30s (aged 55, 85kg and 170cm) which was WAY better than I'd expected (thought the hour)- but I met one car on the way down (they pulled over for photos), and zero buses going down or back up. I paced it perfectly, let the hill come to me and after the 270 degree loop had enough in the tank for a last burst to the top. From there back to Lluc the buses were heading there as I'd been informed (correctly) that they ship the tourists there for lunch so from 11-1230 there's LOADS heading down there to the restaurants.... Might be a lull around lunch but presumably the exodus would start around 2;30pm to get them all out again..... Such a great ride and the steady gradient makes life bearable (Unlike the Bealach Na Ba I did 4 days ago, same ascent and distance but a killer profile in comparison, easy in then a massive ramp up to 15% for a long stretch, and proper Highland narrow single track so you have to let cars and motorbikes pass in both directions, and clipping back in is a challenge lol).

Interesting comment @100pelas - care to elaborate on this mindless throw away comment? Normally I’d remove hate and spam comments but want to give you the opportunity to expand on this! Or are you just hate commenting because you’ve read it online somewhere?

@@100pelas Ok so your actual point is? I am not sure you even know but I think what you mean to actually say is house prices & rent prices are too high for the average local and that jobs are seasonal and low paid. Let me answer some of these for you - House prices and rent is a local issue you should take up with your government, stop landlords renting out as Airbnb's and make sure house sales are for locals only - not foreigners. As for low paid jobs - again that is a local issue not a visitor one. Another point I keep hearing is you want better class of tourist ? I am sure cyclist bring in more money to the island than your average sun & beer seeker? rental of bike, cafe stops not only at the coastal resorts ! and of course the excellent feedback we give to other cyclist who want to come also. So circling back to your original ' Tourist go home ' - fine and all to say, but without us cyclist's on the island you will see a massive decline in income PS keep an eye out for my Ibiza cycling video coming up soon also - you will love it !
