Great trip. You did very well to keep going, when you had that chest infection. An average of 160k per day with all that gear on the bike. I do cycle touring, usually in Spain as part of a group on lightweight bikes. Our gear is carried from place to place. We cover about 100k per day, but then I am the wrong side of seventy now. We give up carrying the gear a few years ago. I felt your pain on some of those days.

Today I cycled 500 km before lunch because I had a bad cold. Then a magpie swooped me. Never had that happen before. Who is this man ?

Really Adventurous... Looks Easy while watching but definately not riding in Hot Summers, Uphills and Long distances. What do think of the alternative route of the West Coast A1? and ride to Sydney via Brisbane?

Awesome. How many hours a day would you ride? 7-10 and 2-6? I'd like to do Perth - Sydney. Someone said that's best to use tradewinds which probably hindered you by going opposite way. Sounds like you avoided being mugged or bitten by bad ass snakes.

I rode my bicycle across Australia Perth to SYD to Brisbane 2010. 3600miles in 58 days. Had a great time. Hope to go back July 2023 and do Brisbane to Perth the north road.

Awesome adventure. Thanks for sharing. I'm currently planning Perth to just south of Sydney over about 35 days soon, would love to hear your thoughts on carrying water and dealing with temperature extremes? Due to limits on holidays I am only able to travel in either winter OR summer....sadly not spring or autumn. Thoughts?
@Jamieisadventuring4 жыл бұрын
Thanks man... Sounds like you have a peach of an adventure ahead. I would probably opt for summer on that route as I believe there are lots of roadhouses to fill up on. Ride in the AM and PM and sit out the midday heat. But it was bloody hot in the centre during the day. Head over to my Instagram (jamieisrunning) and literally just posted about water storage. Any questions just ask.

@Jon Dickles sadly on hold, until c19 is no longer a factor (most likely July '22 now). Planning to do the length of Peninsular Malaysia this Summer instead.

I just checked my Strava and you are right, I didn't cycle 220km in one day in the Australian Outback - I cycled 240km... Check Friday, 6 September 2019 on my Strava (www.strava.com/athletes/jamieisrunning). Apparently got KOM on Stuart Highway roadhouses: Kulgera to Stuart's Well (8:11:55) - Apologies for my mistake.
