Beautiful looking bike. I was contemplating getting the Teammachine SLR 01, now I'm swayed. As with the other commentators, I would definitely like to see a comparison as well: Cannondale SystemSix Aero, Specialized Venge and the new Timemachine. Madone looks portly now. It needs to go on a diet.

@jonathanzappala6 жыл бұрын
Jon Burnell that was my same thought yesterday about the new Venge upstaging it. So far that’s the one I’d have. Pending what the Madone will be when it’s not just a pro bike.
@jonburnell5326 жыл бұрын
Jonathan Zappala I've always been a Cannondale fan, I think their bikes are brilliant. However that BMC does trump the Systemsix ever so slightly. Not really a specialised fan. But you're right about the Madone, I suspect when that come out everyone else may as well pack up and go home.
@jonathanzappala6 жыл бұрын
Jon Burnell yeah I’m not a spec fan either but it could convince me to go to the dark side haha. I’d hold out for the Madone over it because the Madone could be thousands less. On Monday though I was in for the cannondale it has the geometry I like and the wheels are cool.

hello there, so awesome, you were riding through Stansstad where I live! great to see the familiar roads! it’s interesting what you say about timemachine not being twitchy at the front end, because my roadmachine is under garantie fall in bmc right now, due to abrupt and recurrent speed wobbles at high speed!
@DanielStirnimann6 жыл бұрын
sercheese do you have the 3T C35 wheelset? My Roadmachine was twitchy at higher speeds until I replaced the wheels. I know have the dt swiss erc 1100 dicut 47 and love it. It feels like a new bike with many improvements all around
@sercheese6 жыл бұрын
Daniel Stirnimann hello, yes! I have 3T Disc C35 Pro, I have also thought about it and sent my feedback to BMC. Have you meant these here? www.dtswiss.com/en/products/wheels-road/endurance/erc-1100-dicut/erc-1100-dicut-47/ do you also live in Switzerland to get in touch?
@DanielStirnimann6 жыл бұрын
Yes, the bike climbs noticeably better. Acceleration is a lot better. The wheels are more stable in cross wind as well. The bike is now very stable downhill. It's a massive improvement. You will love it. The downside, they cost about CHF 2300. But for me, they were more then worth it. I live in Winterthur, work in Zürich. You can find me on Strava!

Love the swiss clean look. Had some boogery front brakes on my last TMR01 so all is not perfect with BMC but close. Anyway, other than the integrated BB tool box (Specialized already have on a non-aero model) I don't see enough difference yet to dissuade me from my Venge Vias build. Really like the front aero cover on the disc brake (no mention of that-wish you would have featured it). The new bikes have an edge but is it worth thousands of dollars over Gen 1 Aero disc? Not unless you're a professional and somebody else is paying for the bike.

@simongeeves96626 жыл бұрын
Another disc only aero bike launched, it looks the part. Curious to know how the UCI judged the bottle cage/storage box. The bike has a UCI approved sticker but the "fairing styled bottle cage and storage box" is it a integral part of the bike or is it only there for aerodynamic gains? If the fairing was removed the bike doesn't fall to pieces so it has no structural purpose. It is just there for aerodynamic performance. I would hazard a guess for UCI sanctioned races the fairing is removed... yes?
@MatthewJohnson-qh9wh6 жыл бұрын
The storage box is for the electric motor, which is becoming essential to win pro races.
@jochem19866 жыл бұрын
The bottle cage has an aerodynamic shape, but UCI says that fairings are add-ons meant for aerodynamics, which this isn't. It's meant to hold the bottle. That's why the front brake fairing is not allowed in UCI regulated races. Neither is the storage box.
@simongeeves96626 жыл бұрын
Jochem, I think it’s genius to increase the aero advantage the way BMC have. Using essential add-ons integrated into the frame design that only adds to the aerodynamic properties of the bike. I wonder how much debate the UCI had in approving this frame.

It looks great. Im verry interested in the comparison between the bmc, new venge and the new cannondale arrow bikes. Are you going to do that?
@chrisdahms96826 жыл бұрын
Mourik131 Probably not, these big KZbin channels usually get sponsor $$ from the manufacturers, so they generally can't say any bike is not as good as any other. Same reason GCN dosen't do wheel reviews/comparisons, they have 3 wheel sponsors, if they did a wheel comparison whichever two didn't win would probably drop sponsorship.
@404nobrakes6 жыл бұрын
Chris Dahms GCN makes it a point to tell people that they are NOT journalists and they do not review anything. Everything on GCN is either purely for entertainment or an ad. So GCN is exempt and is allowed to have sponsors. Cycling weekly hasn't such a luxury.
@Mourik1316 жыл бұрын
If you don't believe this channel why are you watching it?
@mitchellsteindler6 жыл бұрын
Chris Dahms probably not? They've done tons of aero comparisons between bikes, wheels, helmets, speed suits...I dont see why this would be different.
@chrisdahms96826 жыл бұрын
They can do comparisons, but they have to be reserved saying one bike is better b/c they could lose a potential sponser of the one they don't say is better. I'm not saying they are doing anything dishonest oe wrong, rather, I'm reminding people that channels like this are always looking for sponsors so they have to be reserved saying any product is not as good an another.

@404nobrakes6 жыл бұрын
chrisk730 yes. Turns out the wheels on a bike are pretty big part of how it rides. Also all the reviews of this wheel describe it as stable as well. So it confuses me when CyclingTips's take is that buying this bike compete is a bad proposition and the wheels are trash. If it's a $13,000 RACING bike, I expect it to descend like mad.

All the new aerodynamic bikes look the same, cannondale, giant, BMC... but that makes sense because you can only make so many shapes that are aerodynamic. So the future of bikes looks very boring...
