Sir, I am having a big confusion regarding the motion of charged particles between the gap of dees,, We know that if charged particle initially at rest, if we put it in crossed E and B field then it will follow a cylclodial path( Magnetostatic D.J Griffith), but also in cyclotron in between gap of dees, there is crossed fields E& B then, charged particles must follow cylclodial path continuously, Then how can we achieve acceleration of the particles inside the cyclotron, If somehow nodes of cycloids and the gap ends coincides then velocity will be zero, then no magnetic force will be on particle hence no acceleration.

Thank you for this video! I have a question, why is the oscillation frequency calculated for the full 2πR? I expected it to be just πR, since this would correspond to the time spent by the particle in the dee completing one semicircular path.

Kind of like a merry-go-round or carousel where two people are standing on each side pushing you faster and faster. But they can only push if they have the right polarity which oscillates every time you reach where they are standing?

Great video - I really enjoyed the explanation! I am wondering what is the limit for how many particles can be accelerated per one cycle at once? And also, why do we use electromagnets and not neodymium magnets - the cyclotrons will be much more lighter then with similar magnetic field?

Question: I have been told that the electrons or charged particles in the ion beam of cyclotrons do not have a magnetic field even though they travel at tens of thousands of Kms . Is that true? if so, where did its magnetic field of a moving charge go?
@jashandeepsingh56124 жыл бұрын
the magnetic field created by moving charged particle is circular one with a particle at the center this field gets canceled by the external magnetic field which could be understood by looking at the path followed by the particle. At any given instant the magnetic field created by the particle would get cancelled by external magnetic field

This is similar to electromagnetic induction in AC current? The spirals are only the trajectories of the particles correct? It's the electric lines of force not the magnetic lines of force that actually accelerate the particles correct?
