Correction for 4:26 What you read out was the memory specs of the Wii which has 88 mb of total ram (64mb of GDDR3 for main ram and 24mb 1T-SRAM that functions as both slower extended memory and a needed component of GameCube backwards compatibility) The GameCube's main memory is only 24mb And for the Dreamcast it only has 16mb of ram, the 26 total you got is from adding in the vram which is it's own separate thing from system ram. Not being one of those "Um akshually" people, I just wanted to give the proper info since well system specs is something I nerd out about.

I know a lot of people hate the Dreamcast Controller but i really like it. Its pretty ergonomic the buttons were honestly pretty good and the VMU was basically a mini Gameboy or Pocket Station. Also i just looks really cool and unique its a one of a type design like the Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Wii u Gampad controllers.

A lot of game devs take optimization for granted nowadays because of how much hardware we have. You used to have to optimize every part of your game back then, now you just slap a couple lines of code down and it just does it's thing (excluding when you get an error obviously lol). I'm just saying that porting Minecraft to old hardware as precise as possible is interesting and challenging idea by itself. When you try making "not Minecraft clone = something better", you will usually be getting just broken Minecraft. As for why it can run on old hardware - exactly because it is not a game yet _(ok, ok, it is not Minecraft in a sense we all familiar with)_. When all features of modern Minecraft will be added - it won't work on old hardware anymore.

Since it is on Dreamcast / Gamecube specifically, those controllers are really bad for FPS controls, you can reduce the amount of enemies, and still mostly keep the same challenge level. Also, are you aware that Minecraft have in general been EXTREMELY!!!! unoptimized? Minecraft could barely run at decent FPS on strong PCs in the early days. Why do you think a tick rate of 20 was chosen? It's a really weird number, a third of 60... Very very likely chosen so that the FPS could get a boost. The game logic can with hindsight be optimized and improved a lot. The primary issues with game logic would be Redstone. That is the most laggy, but you don't necessarily have to be able to support Redstone computers. They also aren't making the "modern Minecraft", they are replicating a rather old version.

Microsoft is trash! Tho thats just not true, we had 1.12.2 after microsoft took over. One of the best versions for modding we've seen. Alongside 1.16 and 1.20

@@Cygnus_MC it is true. They also made Windows 11 to be total trash, besides slow it also keeps making screenshots and it's the worst spyware (so far). Office 365 is trash, cancelled my subscription, PowerPoint kept crashing on inserted videos. Not only that, everything they bought turned into trash. Minecraft is one of these. 1.12.2 barely has +40% features compared to 1.7.2 and is over 5 times slower... unplayable unless modded.

@@theloststarbounder Not every version needs to have 200% more content. 1.6.4 was just adding a single rule to the serverconfig. All 1.7 added was pistons and sheers. If you take a look at what was added update by update is has remained the same over the last decade. Update 1.12 added terracotta, colored beds, parrots and a new illager, that comment is just plain wrong from an objective standpoint. I dont like Microsoft, infact ive used linux for almost 5 years now because i hate them, but mojang is still a seperate entity, no executive at Microsoft gives a shit about what they put in these updates, only that the bedrock version keeps bringing in money
