Malekith wants to conquer Uthuan because he thinks himself the rightful Phoenix King. Grom wants to krump Ulthuan because he’s a Greenskin and he wants a good fight. Cylostra wants to sink Ulthuan into the depths, genocide the High Elves and consequently let daemons overrun the world when the Vortex can’t be maintained…because her ship sank in a storm she herself sailed into by her own decision. A storm that by all accounts the High Elves had nothing to do with as they were the ones who invited her to Ulthuan so she could sing for the Phoenix King. It’s kind of… _liberating_ to play a character as petty as Cylostra. ABANDON REASON, KNOW ONLY DERANGED, SELF-CENTERED NARCISSISM.

Cylostra was among the best surprises I had in W2. I didn't expected her to be as fun as Noctilus but it was a very pleasant campaign!

The early game is brutal, though. I got seriously lucky with the Norscans taking the north for me after I allied with them. Even then I had to just turtle in place and fight off relentless waves of Lizardmen from the south and High Elves from the east while trying to establish as many coves as I could to bolster my economy and field better armies. I didn't make it to Ulthuan until midgame, and I needed four armies to actually take the damn donut while a fifth held the home front.

Cylostra is, by far, my favorite Vampirate lord. Her spellcasting ability, with arguably one of the strongest spells in the game (vangheist's revenge is difficult to hit with, but holy shit will it devastate anything it touches), mixed with being ethereal and able to tank a decent bit of melee units for stacking, just makes her so damn fun. Syreens are also very good and useful, but I really love her for her power specifically.

Playing Cylostra is real fun, if you are up to some silly stuff you can just do initial setup, set out for Ulthuan and grab Sword of Khaine since it's usually nearby where you land. With all the wardsave from the sword and the 20% from the banner in the technology you can take army of archers firing at you on leviathan and shrug it off, maybe bring lore of vampire caster with if you feel the need to heal.

I'm just playing a campaign as Cylostra and it's so much fun; the freedom to attack any settlement and faction you want with little to no consecuences is amazing. Also considering the fact that you could raise very cheap armies paying really low upkeep costs, makes for a super interesting campaign. Fully recomended

Hi Legend, will you update the series for the factions that get significantly changed by patch 3.0? Grimgor gets a new start and Imrik's situation is also going to be rather different. I imagine the same will apply to Tretch.

I really wish Cylostra got a unique summon in place of Denizens of the deep that summons the bloaty bois. Or hell replace the 90% upkeep cost with raise dead cost for the bloaty bois, they're super fun to use but with it being a 1 and done unit you obviously don't keep them around for a long time, so upkeep cost feels very out of place.

Really enjoying these reviews, I'll echo what others have said and suggest you might revisit some of the very short, earlier videos with the same level of attention. I expect you won't though :D That's the kind of thing people ask me to do and I usually can't be arsed either.

It’s funny to me that in a game with battle dinosaurs, laser beam shooting carts, bikini wearing crab arm ladies, an opera ghost lady still seems extra eccentric somehow. (But still fits the world given how much undead and ghost lore there is.)

I'd argue that the magical attacks for Cylostra's army are actually a downgrade in a lot of cases, and makes the army weaker. You're heavily incentivized to go for Syreens as Cylostra, who rely heavily on their physical resistance for defence, and have magical attacks if you need them. In any other army, if you bring mortars or handguns they'll do very little friendly fire to said syreens due to their physical resistance, but If you give them magical attacks, like cylostra does, they'll take full damage. And if you create a monster mash with syreens, mournguls etc, you'll already have magical attacks and won't need the trait anyway.

For the bugged zone of control city/army, I solved it by camping outside with a low balance of power army, they will attack you and if you wipe them out you cant take the settlement no problem. (For those who were looking for another way to do it)

For my Direfin campaign, I found that if you stand right next to The Black Forest, they may choose to attack you immediately like they did for me; allowing you to get past the bug that way. Anyhow, I'm playing on Legendary, and personally I'm struggling to expand because I have enemies in literally every direction. However, that's a good thing! I enjoy tough campaigns, as such I recommend it. I've played Legendary before and this is on the tougher side, so I would say imo this isn't as noob friendly as Legend makes it sound: mostly because nearly everyone hates vampires! And you start near Malakith, Slaanesh, and Valkria...

I just started a Cylostra campaign the other day and I've got my Syreens at 95% physical resistence. I'm fighting high elf stacks two at a time, then immediately healing up to max health over the end turn. Very effective indeed.

Last time I played Cylostra IE campaign, Belakor send a hero to "meet" me and declare war on me after 2 turns. You can easily get attacked from all side at the early game.

Yeah the campaign can be easliy transform in a ,,this is total war campaign“... do not forget, you have -100 diplomacy debuff with the most factions. I think this is really a hard campaign compare to others...

Fighting high elves early is just a bad time. They easily outrange your guns and outvalue your early melee. You can work around most of that and roll but as a beginner i cant see you having an easy time except if im missing something obvious when versing Elves as Vcoast.

cylostra is one of the best campaigns to abandon everything and go to Cathay, with a couple of marine treasures that you take you can start comfortably

Is there also a bug that stops you from occupying the far left settlement? I started a campaign yesterday and although it is a ruin from me razing it. I have the money and enough units to occupy it but over the course of 4 turns with two different armies the occupy button is grayed out and I can not settle there.

In coop though, her start can be a real hell. Strangely each time my friend and I play together in mp (only us) AI tend to focus only one of the player and all neighnors and not so neighbor declare war on one of us. With the trashy early units, holding back Alith Anar, Malekith, khatep and the Sisters is impossible.

This campaign was not easy for me in the least. In a matter of 3 turns, I was declared war on by all my neighbors including Nagaryth AND Belakor. Then on turn 5 Taurox attacked me and razed the three cities I had conquered. Belakor attacked me, and I made a spirited defense in Slaver's Point, but with even the slightest mismicro I would have lost the battle. I don't know why diplomacy is so hard for me in this game. I never have enough money to bribe anyone of anything.

@@steffent.6477 She only increases recruit rank of the hero from what I saw. But no, she doesn't buff them. She only buffs different units. Obviously all agents in her army would get the magical dmg and 5% physical resistance from her passive. So yeah, still better than using a generic lord.

If they had highlighted her lore more on her release she would have been perceived so much better. A Soprano opera singer so self centered that she was able to pull herself from death to persue her performance for the Phoenix king AND to pull all those around her from death to serve her, even in defiance of their oath to the Lady(who is actually a powerful divine) to get her there? That's a great story. And an inspiration to us all. Dont let the death of yourself or others stop you from getting what you want.

Cylostra is also a Lore of the Deeps caster and that is INSANELY strong in Warhammer 3. Somewhat strange she doesn't get a mastery skill for it, though. Kinda seems like she should?

Cylostra is a cool character, but her faction doesn't offer a whole lot. I tend to confederate her through mods when she gets wiped out. She does have a unique landmark at Lothern, though. That's pretty cool.

Before her release, I absolutely hated Cylostra. I thought she was SO stupid. I was wrong. She's my favorite Lord in the entire setting. The summoned Bretonnian knights are just so fricken cool. I would love to see a "ghost" faction emerge around Cylostra. Even if it was just a mod to make all her units ethereal.

They could have given us Nanosh, an existing lore character who is a Strygoi Pirate that has a ship full of Ghouls. His ship even has a name, the Unternehmung, so that's a Flagship right there. A Vampire Coast subfaction that can recruit Crypt Ghouls and Crypt Horrors (and maybe have Strygoi Ghoul Kings as a Lord option) sounds more interesting to me than what we got with the singing fat lady.
