@warrcc c Yoko wouldn't have given John a second glance if she'd met him before he became famous. She wanted his fame. Plus, her parents had committed Yoko to a mental asylum, and she'd had to use Tony Cox to trick the asylum just to let her out. So her parents weren't giving her any money and she was over 35 years old by then. In later years, to get her parents' money for Sean (his inheritance), she traveled to Japan and spent a lot of John's money trying to show her parents that SHE could keep up with them. So yeah, she WAS after John's money and fame.

@charwest94495 жыл бұрын
@@yvonnemariane2265 She was barely 18 though, just starting art college, so not sure when she'd dated enough to actually choose a "fiance". John may have been a "sexy boy" but he was hardly your basic "bad boy" loser. When Cynthia met John he was an extremely charismatic 17 year old who had achieved so much already. He was very ambitious, starting a band, getting them together, rehearsing, getting them jobs, already teamed up with Paul McCartney, and always prodding them to go "to the toppermost of the poppermost". Plus he was a sensitive poetic guy, a writer, a cartoonist. John and Cynthia had both lost a parent while teens and bonded over that. She knew the softer side of him. He wrote her letters every day whenever they were separated. It was a real relationship of 4 or 5 years before they got married, became parents, and entertained the Beatle family as well as their own, at their Kenwood home. They also lovingly bought homes for his two aunts, Mimi and Harriet (which greedy Yoko sold the second John was no longer there to see what she was doing). So it seemed to those around him that John had a complete personality and character change once Yoko and he started doing a LOT of drugs together. (He even, just before inviting Yoko to his marital home while Cy was away, that same day, called a meeting at Apple only to announce to the others that he was in fact JESUS CHRIST returned.) And once she introduced heroin things really accelerated. Almost overight, whereas before he'd been very reserved in public he immediately was taking his clothes off for album covers and distributing sex tapes of him and Yoko going at it. That was when he became rabidly hateful to Cynthia, leaving her with a miserly amount (the classic stand by your boyfriend in med school only to be dumped once his payoff starts rolling in, and opportunists like Yoko come calling to share in it). John even tried to pin "adultery" on poor Cynthia so that he could come out smelling like a rose, arranging elaborate situations for that to come about, and which he almost got away with until Yoko turned up pregnant just a few days after they'd "come out" as a couple -- which he had to announce eventually. And he completely lost his sense of humor. It was as if Yoko and/or the heroin warped his judgement and filters and released his nasty "bad boy" -- and a decidedly UNSEXY one at that. He turned into an emaciated, hairy, unkempt, spaced out, captive, morose, creepy "bad boy". Yuck. So was John a classic "sexy bad boy" Cynthia should have known would turn out badly? Well, hindsight is always 20/20 but at the time I don't think it was very black and white.

@@waynej2608 I got to meet and spend a good amount of time with Cynthia at a major event over 20 years ago, now. She was very kind and gracious and told me a few stories not generally known concerning the appearance of Yoko in their lives. It also was disappointing to hear one story where she sought to contact Paul for help with the beginning of Julian's recording career and her not having much luck. I personally witnessed her breaking down in tears as one of John's early songs was performed that must have had a deep meaning for her. It was obvious to me that she still loved John many years after his death and in spite of his apparent neglect and abuse of her. It is said that he would call her " Powell" when annoyed,or, angered with her and that he felt trapped by her pregnancy with Julian and marriage to her . Unfortunately, John rejected so many things in his life : his middle name Winston, a man who alone took on and defeated Hitler while baby John was being born amidst a hellish Nazi bombing of Liverpool. He rejected the treasure Cynthia was, a woman who unselfishly truly loved him and Julian, by extension. He recreated the abandonment he suffered as a child in how he treated Julian. Lennon rejected his own creation......The Beatles.....even as he was on his way to New York to play on the Ed Sullivan show for the first time, telling Brian Epstein, " There's got to be something BIGGER and BETTER than THIS !!!.....I want OUT !! " A horrified Epstein told John that NONE of them would ever be as big as the Beatles. Without Epstein John eventually " abdicated" to Paul and used Yoko to fracture the group and get his wish, after marinating in self destructive drugs for years. Still, Cynthia held her love for John and was quiet for many years as others wrote scathing "tell all" books about the Beatles. Now that they are both gone, maybe their souls are in a much different place where earthly pain is gone and the love John sang about is real and shared between them and the creator of us all.

@@johnfoster535 I love your story about meeting Cynthia, but John didn't just marry her because she got pregnant. A whole year before she was pregnant he asked her if she wanted to get engaged, but she suggested they wait because things were going good for them. When she did get pregnant she gave him the option to leave, but he said, “neither of us planned to have a baby, Cyn. I love you and I'm not going to leave you now.” Also John's sister over heard when John was telling his Aunt Mimi he was marrying her, she was telling him he didn't have to and John was saying to her how much he loved Cynthia and said I would've married her eventually anyway. Here's the quote from John's sister: "I do remember John being told you don't have to marry her John; you don't have to do this. I know that Mrs Powell, that's Cynthia's mother, also told Cynthia, you don't have to get married. So they didn't get married because it was a shotgun wedding. "Evie Home" It is one of those situations that was unavoidable. The thing is that John and Cynthia were incomparable.. John was a wild and troubled young man. His mother died when he was about 14 years old and he was very distraught about it. His dad deserted him when he was young. He cut school and hung out with young tough guys on the street and he certainly could have ended up in jail along with a lot of them. He was lucky that he channeled some of his anger and waywardness into forming a band and performing in night clubs even though there often would be brawls and violence during those performances in those night clubs. If not for Julian’s wonderful mom, Cynthia, Julian could have become a very bitter and angry young man. I think Cynthia was the only woman who loved John Lennon, the man. Not “Beatle John”, the mega rock star, but the quirky, middle class kid from Liverpool, who pretended to be working class, because it seemed cooler in his mind. The guy who didn’t have a pot to piss in, nor a window to throw it out of. Sad that in all the madness he couldn’t see that himself. You can hear the heartbreak in her voice, even all those years later. RIP Ms. Powell.

Fair points but love is blind.. it sounds like he got married because of the baby like millions of men and women do.. yoko was the one big love of his life.. like her or not
@charwest9449 Жыл бұрын
@@manny4552 No, John married Cynthia because he loved her. They'd been together for 5 years at that point and emotionally she was his rock. John was eager to take it to the next level. Birth control was only by condom at that point in time so if anyone mess d up it was John. When they found they were expecting a child, Cynthia said he didn't have to marry her. But John said NO, HE WANTED TO MARRY HER, HE LOVED HER. John also complained to his sister about Aunt Mimi's attitude, saying, why doesn't she understand, I LOVE HER!! This revisionist story that he 'had' to marry her was PR stuff concocted by Ono.

Her john book has note details. She wrote the other book while john was alive & I believe he threatened a law suit but unfortunately you cant sue when someone is telling the truth & if he could not prove otherwise u have no leg to stand on. He wrote her such a nasty note after the book. Saying " we had a few good times but the marriage was long over before yoko . U asked me when u came to California to get u pregnant so julian could have a sibling & I turned u down & was so embarrassed by that ridiculous request. If u truly want to put the Beatles behind u do so. Regards mrs twist " I highly doubt cynthia would ever ask john while he was with May to get het pregnant. He also wrote " we had a few good times " really john in a 10 year relationship a few good times? Is that why u wrote her all those obsessive letters writing I love u over & over like 100 times in one letter ? Or how crazily possessive he was of her ? Or how he would make her stay with him til the very last bus came at 1am. Or how he for years demanded all of her time & attention or he would throw tantrums ? He would jump off the stage if any guy danced near her at the cavern club & threaten to kill the guy. This letter was pure yoko & I'm sure the pregnancy thing was just to embarrass her bc seeing how cynthia is how timid she was during the divorce I dont believe for a second she would ask him.to give her another baby. John was a liar & yoko tried to destroy any person john was close to. During the recording of how do u sleep yoko would giddily run over & have viscious insults of paul & John. Would add to them & laugh. Ringo who was drumming for the recording finally lost it & told john " enough john! I'm embarrassed how u are acting like a kid in the playground attaching paul like this. " so a lot was left out & it was still very viscious. He wanted to leave in the line " how do u sleep u cunt " which is on imagine. Paul did nothing to john . But that's how john is when he ends a relationship he is viscious. Probably the guilt. He also did this to may pang. He went to a party elton john threw & john called her horrible names & lunged at her to attack her & elton threw him out of the party.

tdunlopmusic Me nasty, I’m not the one being an ignorant bitch about Yoko Ono Lennon. Studied up, probably read books by so called expert biographers that had no contact with anyone who knew John or Yoko, so basically regurgitated the same old gossipy bullshit written by other complete nobodies. Bad influence? John Lennon produced music that many argue is the best work he’d ever made whilst with this bad influence. John Lennon himself said if he hadn’t been so selfish musically he’d have insisted Yoko be co credited as songwriter on many of his best songs. He said that about the song Imagine, but of course you know better than the man himself. Whether you like it or not, John Lennon made it very clear that Yoko inspired him artistically and politically. Perhaps you don’t like the direction that took him, so like a lot of ill informed nasty little nonentities, you chose to make it all Yoko’s fault. Thing is, by the time they met John Lennon was a fully grown self aware man, not some stupid infatuated child that could be persuaded to do things he didn’t want to. That is basically saying Lennon was weak willed, easily influenced and incapable of doing what he wanted to do because he was being manipulated somehow by Yoko. The absolute bottom line is that John loved Yoko. He was inspired by her and wanted to be with her. When he decided he needed time out and wanted to spend it as a house husband looking after Sean, Lennon trusted Yoko implicitly and handed her control of his work and his fortune. As it happens Yoko was and is extremely savvy when it comes to business and she is credited for substantially increasing that fortune even though no new music was forthcoming. Anyway, I’ve wasted more than enough time responding to your trite drivel. You won’t believe a word of what I’ve written because it won’t suit your personally biased attitude towards Yoko. Haters have to hate even if it does make them look like nasty little nobodies. Just in case you do bother to be open minded, I’ve copied part of an article for you that discusses this Yoko broke up the Beatles bollocks. It is people who knew the Beatles, John & Yoko. It includes some of Paul McCartney’s comments on the matter. Hopefully you’ll believe McCartney, but it wouldn’t shock me to find you disagree and claim Yoko conned Paul into sayIng what he did. [ Rumours have swirled since 1969 that Yoko Ono caused the Beatles break up. But the former wife of John Lennon may finally be off the hook. Despite decades of feuding, Sir Paul McCartney has recently come to Ono’s defense to set the record straight. “She certainly didn’t break the group up. I don’t think you can blame her for anything,” he said in an interview, which first aired on the Al Jazeera English TV channel in November, adding that Lennon was “definitely going to leave.” McCartney even credited his former band mate’s widow for her creative inspiration, which led to Lennon writing the legendary tune “Imagine.” “When Yoko came along, part of her attraction was her avant garde side, her view of things,” he continued. “She showed him another way to be, which was very attractive to him. So it was time for John to leave.” So will McCartney’s revelations be enough to clear Ono’s name from blame? “John was just tired of the band’s unhealthy rivalry and wanted to go his own way. Yoko’s source of inspiration gave him the courage to face change,” Suzannah Galland, whose family had strong ties to Lennon and Ono via her Uncle, the late comedian Marty Feldman, concurred. “This is how we cherish and remember John Lennon, the great legend.” Joe Levy, editor of Billboard, echoed that Ono’s name should be cleared. “Of course Yoko's not to blame. Any fan who thought so was just someone who couldn't accept, as John Lennon put it on his first solo album, that the dream was over,” he explained. “The blame won't disappear because of this - just like Paul being alive doesn't stop high school kids from looking for ‘Paul is dead’ clues - but it should.” And according to Los Angeles-based music producer Jonathan McHugh, much like any 15 plus year relationship, people grow apart.]

I'm not read up on the details of everyones individual & interactive stories, & I wasn't there for what happened. I do understand that Cynthia exudes a warm kind alive brilliance, a genuine modesty.. Even in KZbin preserved moments, if I had to choose a friend in a lifeboat or a stuck lift, someone to get out of any difficulty mutually trusting, acting for all to make it, Cynthia would get my vote. Yes, we all have to step away from our Earth roles, physical bodies. Yes, I do realize that She has become Julian's angel, in a different role/way @÷ She is beauty-full, uplifting & inspiring even in a film. She had a great good nature, good humored Lady. I love how she dreamed of being an artist, a creative, & was strong, deserving of limelight, true loving, her happy share...she was all that herself, generous & well wishing, honorable ambience. I've been a Julian fan for since whatever year that I sat up, having discovered his music, his Tonight Show first appearance...now his photos, that are so focused...tunnel & floral & mountain shades all lit....Im happy with his musical evolution, & more so Impressed with his Personhood. How you live your time here, well, it's In the Key of Smiles (my song, song tribute here). It's an all around amazing story of stories, everyone's so distinctive. The brothers..Well, I stayed up watching Sean's showy music videos, shortly after I found that Jullian can sing & play, song write oh Yeahs! Then I found Sean's productions so different from Jullians..lol, I don't normally short my night's sleep, to absorb music. These guys are both that good. How they sprang up wasn't from nowhere/no place. I am just not informed about major & minor details. Cynthia just makes my whole face/being smile. She is the definition of "great" & "good person", this admirer is nodding y-e-s @-8- TY. I am aware that Yolo also has suffered losing John, that is, she had to choose to hold on, or would she let go, before & after he was shot. I have read some of her writing, her very early history, from her big creative book, at the Moma. Yoko choreographed a work for PBS, which aired in the last millennium. She also has appeared here in there, & I won't detail all. She relied on chocolate, heart broken one lasting time, & tears. Sometimes, we just don't know. Sometimes, we just need to be kind & be careful, whatever the world does, however we are able to. So, Idk any of these people except as I see them presented. I like to think that I am discerning, & I do have my own ideas, & that includes that everyone has shared their talents. I'm a creative, so that is powerful, in my appreciation. I do wish people, all of us could always be & do the best for & by everyone. But ah, yes, the plot thickens, for now. We all have our views. Good luck to the lovers..good growth, sun reaching, enjoying...in moments.
