People ran to the theater to see Wicked. No matter who headlined. This show is iconic on Broadway and die hard fans were here for it. Also, EVERYONE is talking about her vocal performance. CYNTHIA is the reason this theater adaptation is being talked about. And if she hadn't slayed those songs the way only she could (along with playing the character as well as she did), it would not even be up for discussion on TBC. In any case, the pay was fair, so I'm not sure if you thought she got paid much less and she deserved less, but neither assumption is correct.

I did not go and see the movie because of Ariana Grande and I have not seen one review where people were excited to see the movie just to see Ariana. Megastar co-star or not the movie could have flopped if it wasn't well done. And, this movie being so well done is in large part to the flawless delivery of the shows musical numbers, by Cynthia Erivo. Ariana killed it - she was perfectly cast; but the "moments" in the movie came from Cynthia. Also, the press did not "capitulate". They picked up on everyone picking up on Cynthia, and they are giving the people what they want.
