OFFS. One of the very first comments on this programme is about 'the Turkish invasion.' Why is it that no one ever seems to mention the Greek Coup d'etat days before the Turkish invasion?

Because the invasion was & is inhumane! & the Greek coup de tah was set up by Americas beloved war criminall Henry Kissinger!!!just like the US set up coops in various South American countries! The US & Britain wanted to keep Cyprus from re unifying with Greece, a coup in Greece followed by a barbaric Turkish invasion keeps Cyprus small & weak! Divide & comquer!

@@nicolettafourikis927 The Greek coup in 1974 was an attempt to make Cyprus part of the Greek state. Enosis was the objective of EOKA. The Greek leaders did not allow for the 20% of the population who saw themselves as Turkish. The Greek Cypriots were killing Turkish Cypriots and vice versa. The coup gave Turkey a good reason to invade. The USA were happy to have a partitioned island.m. The ordinary Greek and Turkish Cypriots were the ones who suffered. They still suffer. They can never return to their homes and villages. If only people could accept that we have more things in common than things that divide us.

One party thinks to reunification Cyprus other thinks to stay divide, it is so very complicated the situation on it.

It is great to see people like these three who genuinely want a solution. However, bizonal and bi-comunal solution is not sharing the power. as the names suggest they are bi-zonal. A Cypriot identity on the other hand enables everyone to have shared power one person one vote. Then work on grassroots to enable the minority groups and majoity to gain the trust for each other so that a Turkish speaking Cypriot can ran for President of Cyprus,this may include a period of a four year term.

Anybody never mentions from 1963 to 1974 long before Turkish army came to save Turkish Cypriots.Turks lived under the supervision of Greeks and United Nations!! Since 1963 still United Nations still in Cyprus 55 years !!!Two difference Religious two different languages two different cultures,nobody got killed since 1974,its about time we live in peace next to each other,Greeks got %65 of the Cyprus population is 800000 half of the population is foreigners is more than enough land they got !

This sounds good but Cypriots first identify themselves as turkish greek brits or other ethnicities then cypriots. There is no united single cypriot identity. The mistake of the republic of cyprus was to exclude Turkish language education starting from its primary school and not putting harsh laws regarding racial discrimination in the south side of the island. If they had done taken all these measures, Turkish cypriots could have found again build trust and one by one started to live in the south under The rep of cyp but the situation in the south is that here is the Greek part of the island you have no place here go to your side kind of attitude though on paper it is ment to be a multiethnic country governance.

the Tc commentator or political analysts does not tell the whole story... No one will approve a state of affairs where a minority of 20% has equal political power as the majority of 80%. Furthermore, indoctrinated into this so called solution is the legalization of ethnic cleansing and creating a federal state of Tc, where the lands 80% belong to the Greek cypriots..The Tc also adhere to majority of land and population in a federated state, where they could legally discriminate and segregate Greek cypriots....again another non starter to any serious negotiations...These segregative and apartheid ideals by the TC were instilled back in the 1950's when segragation in the southern states of America was legal and apartheid existed in South Africa.... These are anachronistic ideals and have no place in a modern european state/nation... if i may add all the serious federations including the usa,canada russia germany have democratic institutions, in the federal system including the supreme court and parliaments... what the tc analyst is saying is pure bullshit...

I totally agree with CE183, well said! And the other important factor is to STOP calling ourselves Greeks Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots. We are Cypriot Orthodox and Cypriot Muslims once this is established we are definitely going to move on, We are all Cypriots and DON'T belong to either sides. Thank you.

Δήμιος exactly I agree 1000% ...there really is no such thing as "Cypriot Orthodox " although I have come accross some that want this to be their identity! Most Greek Cypriots don't feel this way most call themselves Greek or Greek Cypriots! It should therefore not be imposed upon all Greek Cypriots to drop their Greek heritage! I doubt the so called "Turkish Cypriots " would call themselves "muslim Cypriots " ... If the "Turkish Cypriots " were being "slaughtered " by the Greek Cypriots they should have just left! Thousands of Greek, italians, French & Maltese people from Egypt left in the late 50s with the Nasser Muslim Egyptian government! Greeks had been living in Alexandria for thousands of years yet the Egyptian muslim government made it impossible for any non Muslim to stay so they left no war, & no invasion & believe me no one wanted to leave Egypt back in the late 50s!

Greeks have been on the island since 1500bc, turks since 1500 ad. Greeks were 85% of the population before the invasion, is it not obvious who has more claim to it? Where in any democracy can a minority rule a majority? Imagine the Muslims in the UK taking Scotland and saying it's theres. It's the same thing.

The referendum was held in 2004 and we know how it ended. 70 % yes by turkish cypriots to reunite under federation to 60 % no by greek cypriots yet the acceptance of the no saying greek cypriots to EU as a prize.

Cyprus has always been a Greek speaking area the illegal occupation by the Turks is condemned internationally. The only embassy one can find in Northern Cyprus is the Turkish embassy. Also the airport in Northern Cyprus only has flights from Turkey. It is illegal to enter the island from the occupied side according to the Greek Cypriot laws. When Turks dig into the soil they find Greek archaeological things which are conclusive evidences of the Greek history on the island.
