Great build and thank you for sharing your work. Wish more 3D patriots would use .32 ACP. If more of us used .32, the price should go down and manufactures would see more of a demand for such a versatile cartridge. As a plus, the .32 would be safer to shoot than a 9mm because of reduced pressure. Cheers

@@booliganshootingsports That's what I've been trying to learn too. I have access to printers and tabletop sized CNC routers, so I prefer to learn something that works for more than just addtive... It would be nice to have a library of objects that you incorporated, such as the hinge mechanism of your brace, if not the whole thing, and a bump with a section of pic rail that could be spliced in place of buffer tube rings, etc. I don't think a design for a hinge is unique to firearms, and therefore not subject to ITAR as a basis for restriction. The pic rail is at least distinctly related, but it is used in other industry, such as mounting camera accessories and other optics. Food for thought anyway. Is there no one at Ctrl-pew or det dist that can take an STL and back convert it to raw files?

Great video, I have a few notes. If you don’t like the charging handles, there’s a few websites that sell extended ones and knurled ones. Also, Czechpoint sells .22lr full conversion kits, with and without threaded barrels, so if you’re worried about ammo I’d check those out (although in some places it seems .22 is becoming hard to come by).

Just FYI if you're not aware, all commercially available braces were first sent to the ATF for review before being available for sale, to get ATFs stamp of "not an SBR, definitely a brace" approval. You can read about how the Q Honey Badger manufacturer failed to do this, and got in deep deep doodoo with the ATF claiming theirs was not a brace, but an SBR. Anyway not to be a buzzkill, just be careful and aware of the potential legal pitfalls of designing your own unapproved "brace".
@booliganshootingsports
@booliganshootingsports 3 жыл бұрын
That’s partially incorrect. SB tactical failed to send damn near all of their designs to the ATF for approval, and they’re currently catching issues for it. The issue with the Honey Badger is connected to this as well as to their marketing language and display images, showing it is used as a stock. All this is after the ATF had been telling SB Tactical (who made Q’s brace) that they were marketing many of their braces as being ATF approved when they had never been submitted for approval. So ATF went full tilt on SB Tactical for flaunting it and they’re dealing with that shit now. The ATF doesn’t even classify accessories like braces anymore. They only classify whole guns. Now, with my design, I followed an actual approved item for design inspiration, the Shockwave Blade. I designed mine thinner, with a shorter length of pull, and with an actual functional arm strap. It is more of a brace than the approved brace. It matches all of the design features that the ATF has listed as being fine for use as a brace. And there isn’t an avenue for approval for it as a brace anymore as the ATF has shut down accessory classification. So, frankly, I’m less concerned about my brace design than I would be if I owned an SBA3, which the ATF has specifically said that it considers to be a stock and not a brace.

@@FormerMPSGT The issue is, you can't even just send them a sample of the brace and ask if they consider it's a brace. You have to send them a completed gun and ask for them to classify what that actual gun is, all accessories included. If you have the wrong answer, you just mailed them a felony. Plus, the more people ask, the more likely they are to say no. So I just design in accordance to things they've already approved.

What denials are in place on the upper to ensure that a full auto lower cannot be placed on it? As my understanding goes there needs to be a denial in place for legal reasons.
@booliganshootingsports
@booliganshootingsports 3 жыл бұрын
The big thing is that this can’t fit the full auto CZ parts from the parts kit because it doesn’t use any of them in the first place. This uses an AR FCG, not the original parts. The original parts won’t fit the geometry of the receiver at all.
@Sigibrand
@Sigibrand 3 жыл бұрын
@@booliganshootingsports Correct, but I notice when people do full metal builds (using original modified parts) they have to follow a protocol. I suppose it might not apply here since the lower isn't included. But, if you rebuild a lower and make it semi auto only, you have to put a denial in it so that only that lower will work with the upper. So, you gotta put a block on the receiver and a cut out on the lower. On a DP28 for instance, you have to put pegs in the receiver so only a semi auto bolt will go in it, you have to put a blob of weld in the channel so only a semi auto carrier will fit, and put material on the rear of the lower receiver so only the modified lower will interface with the modified upper. Like I said, I don't know the rules about something like that. in a case of this kit.
@booliganshootingsports
@booliganshootingsports 3 жыл бұрын
@Sigibrand As I said, the "denial" in this receiver is that the full auto trigger parts don't fit at all. For a normal vz61 build, you have to use a semi-auto receiver and a semi-auto selector since that build generally uses the normal full auto FCG, just with denials built into the receiver to prevent it from going full-auto. You use the normal unmodified vz61 bolt from the parts kit in those metal receiver builds. With this, the receiver geometry is completely different. None of those original full-auto parts will fit at all, and it uses a completely different semi-auto trigger group. The denial is in the receiver design and that's all that is needed. On the DP28 example that you used, I believe the issue is that the DP28 fires from an open bolt (I could be wrong, I don't know my Soviet era LMGs), which by itself is illegal unless it's a pre-ban grandfathered build. So in the rebuild process, you have to modify the bolt to be a closed bolt system, requiring receiver changes to prevent an open bolt system from being installed. The vz61 fires from a closed bolt, so it's a moot point.
