He's decided to become a lich, and Vecna cultists have been "helping" him by getting him to peice together the book of vile darkness, and get the hand and eye. In actuality, he's going to become a horrible little vessel

The Keepers of Forbidden Lore sound like they could be portrayed as an SCP-like organization, with morally grey quest hooks. Pretty cool TBH

Vecna breaks the usual divine rank system where personal power is concerned because of his class levels. Consider, a lich like Larloch can credibly threaten a demigod or on a good day a lesser god of a combat-irrelevant portfolio. Vecna is a similarly qualified wizard, with the benefits of his current divine rank straight on top of that. Its like a fight between superman and another Kryptonian who spent his life mastering jujitsu instead of print journalism.

Also worth noting: it is believed Vecna safeguards Tharizdun's prison by tyrning any mage whose actions risk awakening him into Nothics.

Great work man! I always like seeing what you upload. I've worked a low to mid level villain that uses the wand of Orcus in essentially the same way as you used the hand and eye of Vecna that I hope to use one day. Love your work!

Ioun being a bad guy for wanting knowledge open and shared would be interesting and easy to have people empathize with not wanting bad knowledge to be spread.

I played a character, Shrike Thornebrook, a Blood Hunter who was strongarmed into a Profane Soul pact with Vecna. Tasked with reclaiming the Hand from a lesser deity, and slaying her champion (who so happened to be a party member, much to my surprise). Atop The Spire, a final remnant of a war between gods and mortals, he did battle with the party's Cleric and her lesser deity, managing to slay the god. At death's door, knowing he was about to lose to the Cleric, he decided to graft the Hand onto his own arm in order and leapt off the Spire, so he could Teleport to freedom, vowing he would return to finish the job. The campaign fell through a short while after, but it was one of my proudest moments in D&D.
