I created a warlock character who's a human child with an "imaginary friend" that nobody else can see as her Archfey patron. The patron is actually a pixie that thought it'd be hilarious to give a human child magic.

A thing I've done in my campaign to add some nuance to the Unseelie court is add an archfey "father winter" who is effectively Santa Claus. The winter is harsh and cruel, but it also is a time to come together as a community.

This is actually really relevant to me as I DM our game, and we have a player running a homebrewed "Pixie" race, playing an Archfey Warlock. It actually has ended up making a LOT of sense and I'm absolutely in love with the concept. She has basically only taken crowd control abilities, such as Sleep, Faerie Fire, Puppet, Fear, etc. Her and I worked together to make an Archfey Patron that would actually..care about what was happening on the Material Plane, and I settled on the idea of "The Captain of the Summer Guard", being the "army" of the Summer Court. My plot centers around a cult unchaining Therizdun and I figure that's a big enough issue that it would gain the interest of many deities and force them into action. Actually having a Fey creature play as the Archfey Warlock is fun because it lets me actually play into all the stereotypes instead of creating exceptions to them. For example, the Summer Court very rarely consort with non-fey creatures and I get to stick to that, having them view "Melody" our pixie in much higher regard than the rest of the party. I've done a lot of research into Archfey and I do really wish there were more resources to use, other than the main 2 Queens, the Frost Lord, and the Satyr. I honestly don't like deviating from the philosophy behind the lore in the books, but I think we've done a good job and she's a lot of fun to have in my game ...Even though I have to balance everything around having a tiny flying Pixie who can turn invisible. Oh, and she took the Eldrich Invocation that allows her to cast Detect Magic at will. It's literally impossible to surprise these guys haha

In Irish lore, the ruler of the Seelie is actually named Summer, or rather that's her title as the queen of the Seelie court, which is why they are also called the Summer Court. The Unseelie, in Irish lore, are ruled over by a queen known as Winter. It's stated that Summer and Winter don't get along, often going to war with each other over the slightest of things. In Irish lore, the Seelie are warm and inviting, when they make merry with mortals they make sure their merrymaking has minimal chances of being fatal to the mortals, mostly because they want to see far their merrymaking can go with the any given mortal before they give up the ghost; In Irish lore, the Unseelie are bit more malicious, they actually don't care if anyone potentially dies in their merrymaking, as long as they get to have fun. Some confirmed members of the Unseelie, like the Kelpie, actually go out of their way to feed on mortals in some way.

@@dawsonhelf7922 Irish lore is one of those mythologies that's often looked over for whatever reason. I'm happy that the Banshee and Fomorian made it into the Monster Manual, but I'm disappointed just how much else has been overlooked. I have yet to see a source book with the Kelpie as a monster, those things are vicious and terrifying. In Irish lore, the Kelpie is a black horse that lives in deep rivers and lakes, and has the power shift its form between three forms; it's natural state is that which appears like that of a black horse, it can also take the form of a big black dog, and the form of a person dressed all in black. All three forms have different tactics for driving you into the deep water to drown, after you've been drowned to death it tears out your liver and feeds upon it. On the lighter side of things you have the Brownie (pronounced Broo-Nee) which are goodnature mischievous faeries that are said to serve as your servants for the remainder of your life if you manage to catch them.

Actually, there have been a nice number of fey "deities" described back in AD&D 2e's alongside Titania, Oberon and Queen of Air and Darkness, many of them being patrons of fey and fey-related creatures like Emmantiensien of treants, friend of elven gods, and Nathair Sgiathach of faerie dragons, part of both draconic pantheon and the Seelie Court. While far not as fleshed out as the more popular trio, they certainly have merit as archfey patrons with little bit of love.

I recently made a bard/warlock multiclass who sold his soul for rock & roll to the Queen of Air and Darkness. The Queen has grown weary of all mortal praise going to Titania, and so she has granted a portion of her power to this young bard in return for him singing songs of her glory, beauty, and prowess. Should this bard ever sing of another that compares favorably to her, he will lose his power...

So in a game I'm soon to be in. I am playing a Tiefling Variant (Winged) Archfey Warlock 4 / Shadow Sorcerer 3 character. And it just so happens that all of his powers come from the Queen of Darkness and Air. Two mortals wished for a child but couldn't conceive. They begged for aid. {Mab} saw it as an opportunity to further her own agenda. And so aided them. The father however forgot to mention that he had long ago struck a bargain with a fiend, which resulted in the tiefling child. Character was abandoned in the woods as a babe. Raised by the Fey of the Gloaming Court, causing his horns to grow into antlers as he was 'gifted' magic with a pact with his 'Mother', the Queen of Darkness and Air. He's gonna bee fun to play. Entirely control spells besised E. Blast and Toll the Dead.

Iggwilv (aka Tasha) is also an archfey now. Many hags are also fey, so a powerful one may serve as a archfey patron (or a coven of hags collectively). I think Night Hangs are the only exception, but even then they may still fit as a archfey patron (perhaps some mix of fiend and archfey patron).

Great info to have. This gives me some more ideas about my warlock. My pact was originally a political ploy by my parents to pawn me off on Titania as a sort of peace treaty bargaining chip. Now, I'm seeing my character more as being gifted to gain an audience with the court. Gives him a reason to be loyal to the fey instead of his family. Family sold him as basically a slave, and Titania said, "I guess you work for me now. Here's some magic and a familiar. Have fun, don't get into trouble that you can't get out of, and I'll call you if I need anything."

Warlocks seem the most open ended for character creation. Sure sure Eldritch blast but you can have two warlocks meet with completely different character. I like it. The archey warlock schmoozer looking for the next big scheme, the undying pirate looking to be the best damn pirate ever (lich fight in the sea anyone?) A real Quasimodo-esqe fiend warlock raised in a good aligned church. A GOO warlock using underhanded methods to further his own goals or to become a noble.
