I am an active duty U.S. Marine and have been serving for 12 years and counting. Nothing in my career could ever amount to the level of service the men AND woman of D-day gave on just that one day. I will never stop telling their stories and will never let their sacrifices be forgotten. Everyone in the world stands today upon the shoulders of the men and woman of 06 June, 1944. To ANY and ALL WWII veterans who may see this.... THE WORLD IS A BETTER PLACE BECAUSE OF YOU AND WILL NEVER BE AS GOOD A PLACE WHEN YOU ARE GONE.

There is a reason why these men are called "The Greatest Generation ".They survived the Great Depression as children and then went on to World War 11.They came back with PTSD before PTSD was even diagnosed and somehow managed to lead normal lives and raise families. They suppressed the horrors of war for the sake of their children and grandchildren.I know this personally because I am the grandson of a D Day veteran. My grandfather never talked about the war until I decided to enlist into the Army back in 1986.He said he only did it because he wanted me to know the horrors of war before I made a final decision to enlist. The stories he told me are still entrenched in my mind till this day.I went ahead and enlisted as a tribute to him because I wanted to keep the tradition of military service in my family alive. My grandfather died in 2006 and I hope he's resting in peace up in heaven because he went through hell here on earth.

My grandad served in World War Two, British royal engineers. He hardly ever spoke about the war, if ever. I always remember something he said to me “Only a mad man or someone who has never experienced war would glorify it. Glory dies with the men who fall and the men who survive have to live with the ghosts” he hoped that myself and my brother would never experience war.

Thank you for making this video! My husband and I just got back from France and were able to visit the American cemetery and Pointe du Hoc. I was crying the whole time… what a truly incredible place. That whole area is a must see for everyone, especially Americans, to truly remember our history and the importance of freedom, and those who defended it. Being a mother of two little kids, these monuments and stories hit differently. I can’t imagine what these men and women went through and their families, their mothers 💔 Thank you to the New World for stepping in to save the old world ♥️ we will remember.

Thank you for sharing-and thank you for all you did for freedom, democracy and humanity. You all possessed this intense unwavering courage and valor as you knew it would be impossible to not lose friends and comrades while storming the beaches. These stories, all of your stories, the witness testimonies of what happened on the beaches of Normandy-what you all went through, fought for, and died for during WWII is so important to remember, to talk about, and to tell our children about. You will not be forgotten, your sacrifices will not be forgotten; your lives, your memories, your seemingly unbreakable strength and spirits will forever echo throughout time; reminding us all of how fragile and precious life and freedom can be, and to be thankful for every moment we have on this earth. 🫡❤️🪶
