I bought a set of these and cant get them to work. The middle light remains red , and the other two lights are orange. None of them are really green. can someone please help

I'm having trouble with mine. One's connected to the router downstairs, and another one is upstairs in my room. It works great when my laptop isn't plugged in, and web browsing and streaming works flawlessly and probably even faster than my connection with Ethernet. However when I plug my laptop into a separate outlet, a few feet away, the power link adapter doesn't work at all other than being powered on. The power link led isn't working. Is there any fix for this?
