Sophia, you should had heard me gasp when I saw your memorabilia boxes on the floor next to the sump pump. Please consider putting them up on the shelf where the spring/fall decor boxes are. Let the decor boxes sit on the floor. Heaven forbid if you had a flood from the sump pump failing, and some of the memorabilia was damaged/ruined. I know you would be heartbroken. -- I am happy that you ended up feeling good about having decluttered the space. It works that way for me, too. I dread it, but am so happy afterwards. @@ACGNikki , my brother-in-law has been fighting issues with his sump pump and cracks in his basement walls. Water travels, too. Plastic boxes can crack, and it would be awful to lose a lifetime of keepsakes, which could easily be stored up higher. I really did gasp at the thought of it, while watching the video. Just something to consider., :)

Hi Sophia, just a tip/FYI...store the inserts ( leafs ) for your dining table 'FLAT', other wise over time they will warp, if left standing up on the end. I store mine laying flat under my bed, they take up no needed room and no one but myself knows they are there because no ones sees them :) ..love the new series, very inspiring ♥

You gave motivated me!!! I set up a note card system and put them in a small file box. Then each day I take the one in front, complete it and then file it to the box. The Side Tracked Sisters did this year's ago and I have read the books but it just became a reality after watching the D.O.C. videos.

I securely taped zip lock bags (so the top is still open) to my storage boxes so I can change content labels (index cards) as needed. I am sure there are more elaborate/pretty systems out there but this works well for me.I have also photographed the inside of boxes and saved to cloud in an appropriate folder.. I do the same for seasonal displays if I really like the way it looks.

That reminds me, I use labels inside clear plastic ID badge holder sleeves, and clear packing tape over THAT to affix to the box!

I am loving this series! It has made me realize just how much adding the element of fun and surprise to mundane tasks really does help! I can’t help but think of Mary Poppins who said “In every job that must be done, there is an element of fun, you find the fun and snap, the jobs a game!” Keep up the great work! Another great video. You really inspire me as I am finally tackling my basement. It really needs a grenade and then I could start over. Years and years of not knowing what to do with stuff and just putting stuff in a bag and putting it in the basement. I cracked up about the umbilical cords you saved for the boys. I saved both my boys baby teeth. I remember when you were doing Vlogtober and you did your basement to get ready for company over the holidays and you have done a great job maintaining. I too use the bins instead of cardboard boxes which fall apart. The bins are great because everything stays clean and protected and you can stack them neatly. I recently did a decor decluttering and bin makeover. I had the snap lid bins which I find very hard to open and I replaced them with the latch bins which are easy to open and close. I have one memorabilia bin and 7 bins with decor for January to November in the basement. I keep my Christmas bins 8 bins in my second floor crawl space. My house is a cape cod so I have no attic just space behind the bedroom walls. When I put Christmas away I really have to declutter those bins. If I look at all the decluttering I have to do I get discouraged and overwhelmed but if I look at all the bags I am getting rid of I am motivated to continue. Love you sticky notes idea.

I just did my "decorations" room, I call it my Christmas closet. I took down all my decorations on 1-5, packed them in their appropriate containers, emptied all the shelves in my decorations room and wiped all the shelves before I put things back. It took two days, I woke up at 2:00 a.m. today ( yeah I'm nuts), and worked until 8:00 a.m. All I have left is artificial Christmas tree, I'm turning my 9.5 foot tree into a 7.5 foot tree because I'm old and going up and down a ladder a million times is not appealing. I was in the garage with a hacksaw taking apart the bottom section of the tree, now all I have to do is pull off all the good bulbs (its a pre-lit tree) so I can save them in case any lights die in the future. It wasn't fun, but it's done!

Loving the new series your facial expressions r great. When u started it was blah blah but once u were done your face just lit up. Good idea keep storage containers untill u finish series and don't forget u still got garage in the spring or summer. This would b a good way to tackle it also so it's not so overwhelming. first of all, your decluttering series are always my favorites :) . i was thinking, why not store the empty storage bins stacked up against the empty wall in that newly organized decor room until you might need them? looks like you would still have plenty of open space in there even with them stored in there up against the wall. that's what i would do instead of leaving them out in the open.

I love this idea. I jump around my house doing different projects just so I can have a change of scenery. I was concentrating on my bedroom for a bit but then the next day I might tackle a drawer or cupboard in the kitchen. Today I started reorganizing my Christmas decor. I want to declutter what I have and just keep the ornaments and decor that I truly love and will use. I have so much that I never even look at so what’s the point of keeping these things. I’m still working on my clothes closet. I have gone through it once but am not satisfied and think I can narrow things down a bit more. Moving throughout your house just motivates me more as I’m seeing progress throughout the entire house. I really think I feel less overwhelmed this way. Maybe it’s time you wrote a book.😊❤️ I commented only a minute after the video began and then I see that you’re reorganizing your Christmas decor. I thought it was too coincidental....lol!

Great series! Wow, that was a TASK. Good news though, that sorting and Decluttering is DONE. Now you don’t have to Declutter the boxes again until you decorate for each season. If you get this motivated for the icky tasks just think what fun the ones you are looking forward to will be.

What an amazing feeling that must be to have that so organized! Way to go! I use painter's tape and a sharpie to label my totes. Usually the bright green tape yes it's a little spendy but it's easy to see, sticks and peels off nicely!

I am loving this series. Everything looks great! So nice to have room to get to everything. Especially the sump pump! The location of your memorabilia worries me though. Although they are stored in nice totes, what happens if the pump becomes clogged or stops working? The water will start to overflow. A few years ago ours stopped working and had almost begun to over flow in our basement. Fortunately it was in an open area where we often pass by before this occurred. Decor can be replaced, but not pictures and such.

I don’t think I’ve ever felt as motivated as I do this year. I can’t sleep because I’m watching your video and then I pause to clean out a drawer....lol! I just need to sleep so I can get up in the morning and start again. This year I feel like I’m actually seeing progress and it has done wonders for my motivation. I usually feel so overwhelmed and never really get things done the way I want. Now that I’m seeing steps in the right direction I think I can actually do it this year. Of course I may need some help for anything heavy so keeping fingers crossed that my husband and son will chip in. Thanks Sofia for this series. And don’t worry about the labels. Just remember to buy the ink for your printer and you will be on your way to perfection!

So glad I kept my niece's school pictures I used them to make a collage for her graduation party. I also took all kinds of family & her pictures with friends & made another collage. Everyone loved them. I also did a picture from first day of school to lasr day of school.

I was inspired to clear out all my cushions 2 sofas 2 beds who needs 24 ! Covers removed inserts moved around disposed of many old ones The balance are now in the one place.

I use a sharpie to write on my storage boxes. Since they're palastic,you can remove the market with nail polish remover. Then you don't have to make labels and waste ink.

Hi Sophia! Please, please move your table leaves into the back of a closet so that they're not exposed to such temperature fluctuations or you'll find that they may warp due to the damp environment of your cold room! I was told by my dad years ago, to keep them at the same temp as the table. Love your vids! Be well!

Another option for labels is to simply number each box (you can use a permanent marker or an actual label) and then create a 3x5 index card for each box listing the contents. Keep the cards in a small file box. This works really well for boxes in which the contents might change over time, such as decor. Instead of relabeling the box, you just change the card.

Hi Sophia I just wanted to let you know I made my jar of rooms to day and was not happy at first to haft to clean and D clutter my walk and closet but was so happy when it was dune and got to get rid of things as well got to donate some stuff and it didn’t take as long as I thought it would I toald my sister about the jar she laught at me at first and was serprize I sent her a befor and after pic she was serprize how fast I did as well I think it will be the frist time I will get it all dune what a good idea she now going to do to thank you again so helpful have a wonderful day looking forward to more all the best Donna from Canada

Loving this series. We decided to get rid a lot of our Christmas decor while we put them up before Christmas. We have just taken them down and found we only have three boxes. Husband is happy as he doesn’t have keep going into the attic to retrieve them! This Christmas we’ll be decluttering some more, won’t be a massive job like last time! We don’t have a big house and it doesn’t seem like we’ll move into a house like Sofia’s so I’ve reluctantly let things go.
