Love your videos man, thanks for making them so in-depth. I'm in TX too. I bought a 1998 Civic EX coupe as a project last year, and in typical Honda fashion, it has over 220k miles and still runs fine. But I'm going to attempt my first rebuild with it. I'd be proud to rebuild the ol' D16Y8 up for boost, and I want to clean the whole car up but time & money all that. I'd really like to do it right and drive it for years. I'll be referencing your videos when I'm working on it and I'll make sure I keep supporting the channel! Good luck man

@TexasHondaChannel4 жыл бұрын
shon luna I usually do builds for other people but the only issue is there is so much that can go wrong and people blame the mechanic or tuner. I don’t have insurance to cover any mess ups. The break in process of not done right can cause issues and then I have to pay for it and I literally don’t have money. I would love to build it but without insurance as a shop I can’t take the risk of getting sued if any Thing goes wrong.

Boosted Fool Well it varies from person to person. After 300miles I Changed my oil and gave her hell and it’s holding up. Most people say get out there after the rings are sealed and beat on it. Hey James, i dont think youve talked much about the oil pump. What work have you done to this pump. Ported or just shimmed? Also im in the same boat brother Thicker oil and maybe some slick 50 or that stuff you promote lol
@5eZa3 жыл бұрын
i'm skeptical about this claim that full synthetic will prevent your rings from seating. synthetic oil just has better thermal properties. it's basically just oil like non synthetic. you probably did something else wrong on that build that wouldn't stop smoking

Are you not worried about getting the rotating assembly balanced?
@kysonreber26583 жыл бұрын
4 cylinder engines are already super unbalanced. It’s different if it’s a V8 or inline 6. That’s why some 4 cylinders have balance shafts. Balancing a 4 cylinder is basically useless
