Traveled behind many of the 28's on the Furness line in the early 60's with my parents. One thing about your interesting commentary ,at the end regarding the years built I think you will find D5705 entered traffic in 1958 ,that year is given as the build for all 20 in most books I have.. Thank you both for the tour and tech details.

Nice video, I use to bike to 14a steam shed from my house in cricklewood, sit on my spot, a concrete plinth overlooking bent yard and look out for the condor, if lucky you would see a Scot on a fitted freight heading north, I once saw a jubilee piloting a peak on a train out of St pancras, the peaks were brand new then, perhaps it had failed

Saw all of the class 28s when they were eventually allocated to Polmadie depot. They used to double head the iron ore trains which came through several times a day. I know they had a reputation for being very unreliable, but there was something about them that I liked. Glad that one was saved from the scrap yards. I hope the owners eventually get it running again.

Before they start running this Crossley it would help them to get in contact with the Western Australian preservation group at Bassendean near Perth. They have a preserved WAGR XA Class 1405 that is fitted with the same HST V8 two stroke engine and I’m told runs well. The fitters that serviced the XA class devised some very clever methods to keep those Crossleys running in good order.
