The ball pin is preloaded with that spring, what is the acceptable endfloat for a good condition ball joint when compressing and releasing with a big pair of multigrips?

Did this tonight (with the pitman arm and steering box still attached to the car), and, aside from the whole 'hold the final (spring loaded) part on with the clamp and two sockets bit, it was as easy as you made it out to be (gravity can really trigger the worst in vocal responses sometimes). Thank you for your instruction and the play by play on this. Not only was it useful to see the up close and clear details of what was to be done, but it was done in a way that convinced me that I could tackle this.

What deep socket size did you use on the threaded side to compress the spring? Is a 27mm deep socket enough?

What's the name of the tool you use to seperate the link rod/steering damper from the ball joint? It looks so easy but mine won't come off :) (at 15sec)

Ah, that is a ball joint splitter. You may do it with 2 hammers as in video here kzbin.info/www/bejne/najalquGgtVpmbM

By the way, if that ball joint tool is (I think I seen ) £15-£20 then it's paid for itself the first time you use it.

What’s the name of the tool you used to remove the drop arm from the steering box please?

One thing I wondered ... is there some special colour code to the cable ties attached to the drop arms? On mine it's blue and I can't actually figure any real function of the tie.

There is a reason an I think it is to do with the reconditions reminders to themselves which dos has been recondition to whatever standard they work to. Not 100% sure myself.
