Fun fact the same artist ages ago before he was an official musican for dwarf fortress made a song called "Danger room" about an arena champion who succumbs to a curse and kills his friends. Before the turn one of the repeated lines of the song is the same "champions are rewarded with fortune" as this one. Implying it a continuation and the night creature being that cursed champion.

It is said that once a year "Ehstan Noramrigoth" The Dwarven Spearwoman, Monster Slayer and Biter of Zombies visits the tavern "The Crystalline Ale" She heard this was a good place to relax. She is aware of her undead affliction but is incredibly cheerful and has a great sense of humour. She requests this tune each time and then departs.
