8 sources of awe: Moral Beauty (stories of inspirations, kindness, compassion); Collective Effervescence (part of a group, Haka war dance); Nature (sunrise/sunset, scenery, dopamine level, increase of immune response, increase of cognitive performance); Music (concert, lullaby); Visual Design (architecture, paintings, travel); Religious/Spiritual experiences (communal worship, but also psychedelics); Live & Death experiences (seeing a birth happening, or sitting by a death bed); Big Ideas or Epiphanies (interlocking movements of large systems)

We want the secret of keeping awe, even when we say "yeek," Congratulations on your first post-we need more awe in our lives, and Dacher Keltner has written the definitive book on where to find it. As a preeminent expert on the science of awe, he does a masterful job demystifying this powerful emotion and unpacking how it both elevates us and grounds us. What did this? I am in awe, already-is it really science or emotion?

Thank you very much for this great talk. Just an idea, i had hearing Prof. Keltner talking about the special compentence that makes a difference between humans and other animals: Yuval Noah Harari wrote in his book "A Brief History of Mankind" that the unique competence of humans is to have social exchange about things, that don't exist. So we can speculate about possibilities and invent stories, myths and religions. In my point of view myths could be the ground for awe, or there is a deep connection between the two concepts. What do you think about this idea?

Let God’s beloved, each and every one, be the essence of purity, the very life of holiness, so that in every country they may become famed for their sanctity, independence of spirit, and meekness. Let them be cheered by draughts from the eternal cup of love for God, and make merry as they drink from the wine-vaults of Heaven. Let them behold the Blessed Beauty, and feel the flame and rapture of that meeting, and be struck dumb with awe and wonder. This is the station of the sincere; this is the way of the loyal; this is the brightness that shineth on the faces of those nigh unto God. Writings of Abdu’l-Baha
