Dacia Jogger Sleep Pack Ultimate review: Camping & Caravanning

The Dacia Jogger is a practical seven-seater family car, but when equipped with the optional Sleep Pack Ultimate accessory from Dacia’s In Nature range, it becomes something else. For a little over £2,000, the pack includes a three-berth tailgate tent, the sleep kit itself, blackout blinds and a storage bag for the third row of seats. Emily Barton investigates.

What would have been great is if, on the hybrid version of the Jogger, Dacia had implemented a camping mode. In this mode, only ventilation, air conditioning and heating would remain on. In camping mode, the daytime running lights would be switched off, and both screens turned off. When the battery became too low, the internal combustion engine would start for a few minutes to charge the 1.2 kWh battery to 100%, then stop until the battery fell below 50%. An app on the smartphone, connected via Bluetooth to the Jogger, would make it possible to: 1) launch camping mode, 2) set temperature and air flow, 3) open and close the windows, 4) start and stop air conditioning, 5) display the 1.2kWh battery charge level and the vehicle's outside and inside temperature, 6) exit camping mode.

You should be able to plug it to the electricity net on the camp side. So that you don’t have to use the battery at all. You can use airco/heating, open windows, charge phone etc. Even put a little fridge in it somewhere. Also a great addition would be if it had a roof-window that can open. Look at the starts and some fresh air

Get with the times Camping and Caravanning Club. This is safer than having appliances in a campervan or motorhome. " All conversions should be permanent in nature." No point in reviewing it really.

Why wouldn’t you be able to sleep in your Jogger on a club site?

You can sleep in a VW Caddy California or any other kind of campervan. I wonder why you can’t in a sleep pack-equipped Jogger? Maybe they’re trying to keep the riff raff like me out.

I know it’s never wet or windy in a British summer but in case it was I would sleep in the car. Would site wardens then ask me to leave?

Pointless. You’d be better off with a roof tent.

@@Kamavagadoo I agree with you regarding the tent at the back but as a sleep pack owner I can vouch for the low drag, weatherproof and stealthy nature of the pack compared with a roof tent. However if I needed to sleep four people I’d go for two on the roof and two in the sleep pack for sure.
