Dad was extremely distraught because he couldn’t find Josh. We did call him but Dad forgot a minute later and continued his search.

He was so kind and loving and concerned about everyone. He would get confused but he was so concerned for everyone else all of the time. I miss him, he was am amazing human being. Truly. He was an Engineer, a physics professor at Clarkson University, he was the Mayor of Colton NY, he broke code by learning Mandarin (Chinese) for the CIA during the Korean war and was recognized as being exceptional amonsts the 6 of the code breakers they had. He was a pilot who had a small airplane and let me try to stear it when I was 12 years old. He was an amazing human. His intelligence shined through even through his Dementia and so did his heart.

Isn’t that something a parent will never stop worrying about their children. I remember I was in the hospital one time the woman next to me had the same disease as your dad every day at 12 o’clock she would get up and try to leave to go home and feed her boys their lunch when they came home from school of course they were grown adults, and I sat there and thought as a young mother at the time I couldn’t imagine how awful that had to be for her to think she wouldn’t be home to feed her children. It’s really a tough disease I give you so much credit and dad is a kind, loving person. It is so obvious wishing you all well.

This part of dementia breaks my heart. It’s the obsessive nonstop questions about an individual a child like your father used to do with his brother and that’s what he’s displaying here. I just can’t imagine all that energy that he has, and I’m sure doesn’t realize he pours out on these obsessive questions. But when the reasoning is gone and memory retention … that’s what happens .. 😢

He may have been calmed faster if he saw an actual interaction with Josh. If it works to make acclimation smoother you can apply it to other folks he misses. Even record your speech about his brother who passed away. He can see it’s a historical fact. You both do such a wonderful job handling the ups and downs of this vicious condition. Focus on the video memories and video speeches to help him receive this news on a daily basis.❤️♥️❤️♥️❤️❤️love you guys!
