A nice Sunday chat with Dad. He never fails to surprise and amaze me. Dementia doesn’t own him. He is owning this disease.

Agreed! Reminds me a lot of my Grandpa who passed when my daughter was an infant. My Grandpa woke up every single morning asking for my daughter & couldn't wait for my Grandma to bring him over to see her! It was the sweetest most heartwarming memory I have of him🥹🩵 You are amazing with your Dad Dan!❤

My dad is 86 and has had dementia about five years. Last year my parents moved to a senior community and into independent living. Tomorrow he moves across the parking lot from the cottage where’s he’s has been living with my mom and will enter the memory care building. Thankfully my brother lives nearby and helps my mom and dad with all their business. My dad is so full of joy yet he is getting so confused.😞

You can tell he was a good person in life. He is such a pleasant and respectful person. Remind me of my mom. She stayed with me for nearly 5 years with this same disease. All she ever wanted to do and did was praise the Lord and show Love. The Bible tells us to guard your heart because out of the heart comes the issues. of life. She and your dad truly exemplified the Love of God. Enjoy your time with him. We truly did with my mom. Your Alabama facebook family.

Dan, your videos are excellent. Back in the 80s, my grandma (mom's mom) came to live with us, due to her dementia (which runs in the family) and inability to take care of herself. My dad has since passed away and I'm living with mom, taking care of her house and property. Your example of patience and gentle responses to repeated questions is wonderful. I am going to emulate your approach as mom gets older and try to make her every day a good one. It's also beneficial to be able to observe your dad's behavior in order to get an even clearer picture of what I might have to deal with someday. Ed's quite the character! What a pleasant human being.

My dad had dementia . He lived downstairs in our duplex and was independent but of course we helped out a lot and guided him when he was confused . We didn’t realize how weak he was till October 31 and he had fallen . Turns out he had a uti and sepsis . We tried to take him home he never got better he was would have a few good days then right back in the icu . He was home one full day . Dec 4 he had his last fight with being sick as the dr said with dementia patients along with the uti and sepsis and pneumonia he wouldn’t pull thro. He was put on comfort care and passed away four days later . He would have been 90 this year . I was his care giver and my dad could be difficult and it took a lot of patience at time but I would do it all over again. You never know what tomorrow brings . Hug Ed and tell him you love him! Someday you will miss him asking where his keys are or checkbook .
