Lucifer's entire thing is he just wanted to give Humanity the Gift of Free Will, but that inadvertently let Evil into creation and created Hell. Then he was banished there, forced to only ever see the worst aspects of the gift he gave humans. He tried to make Hell a better place, to make it a less shitty, but the Sinners ruined his efforts, forcing him ever deeper into depression. Eventually he just gave up on them and his own dreams. That's why all he did was make a deal so that the Exterminations only targeted Sinners and not Hellborne. Not just for Charlie, who is only 200 years old, but because he likely doesn't think the Hellborne deserve to be exterminated just for being born in Hell while the Sinners earned it.

@@williamharmon4039 by the way adding to my previous reply if God does not exist here that gives me some interesting implications, things to think about. With God, Evil is a trial. A future season could be with Heaven and Hell working together by then, against Evil, against these Eldricht being or beings from "the Void".

My assumption is that Alastor is very worried about Lucifer making him redundant. So he tries to drive a wedge between Charlie and Lucifer. He can't intimidate Lucifer which is why he's using the one thing he has over him: A connection with Charlie, which he goes to great lengths to misrepresent. Brilliant writing in my opinion
@williamharmon40399 ай бұрын
It also seems consistent with him being told the other Overlords weren't too bothered by his extended absence. Alastor seems to need to exert authority over a situation and the people around him. Normally he does that by terrorizing other sinners with his sheer power, but Lucifer is way above him in that regard so he becomes more openly hostile and petty because he feels threatened and needs something to get under Lucifer's skin with.

Lucifer is still an angel btw, he isn’t a demon, that didn’t change just because he was banished to hell. He still has his wings and angelic abilities, he’s just a ‘fallen’ angel. Sorry if you know this already, it’s just you said ‘he was an angel’, so I wasn’t sure. Anyways, moving on, Lucifer is my absolute favorite character. I love his goofy personality, and it’s heartwarming how much he loves his daughter. He doesn’t know how to talk or connect to her, and it’s caused a lot of misunderstandings on both ends, so it’s nice to see them rekindle their relationship. It’s also interesting, Lucifer’s mindset that is. He’s been around for a very long time. We know hell has existed for at least 10,000 years, Lucifer has been there since its creation, not to mention he was in heaven for who knows how long before being cast out. Lucifer has had a long time to think, and like ep one said, he’s only ever seen the bad side of humanity. He never got to see the good that came from humanities free will. So of course he doesn’t have the best view of his citizens, at least the sinners. I could talk about this for hours, but I’ll stop it here. Just saying, 10/10 character. This series is so good. The complexity of the characters is amazing. I’m happy you’re reacting to it, but also taking time to break it down and analyze it, not everyone does that. Also, season two is already in production. We’ll most likely get season thee as well, that isn’t greenlit yet (that we know of), but Viv was pretty adamant about it on livestream. So we should have plenty of content coming our way.

You mentioned therapists doing analyses on these characters, to which I say, yes, absolutely watch Georgia Dow’s _Hazbin_ videos…on your own time, after you finish the season. They get pretty understandably spoiler-y in the interest of having the full picture on these characters. I absolutely love her video on Lucifer’s depression and she just released her Sir Pentious video earlier today. Her cosplays for each character are a treat, too! Also “He’s like the opposite of Stolas” THANK YOU. I keep seeing people compare him to Stolas in terms of parenting and I get so offended on Lucifer’s behalf every time. Stolas is super preoccupied with trying to make his relationship with Blitzø work to the point where it’d be really easy to forget Octavia even exists if not for her being mentioned from time to time. Luci, on the other hand, actively _wants_ to be there for his daughter, but his depression and the fact that Charlie doesn’t reach out to him (“This is the first time _she’s_ called *_you_* in years!”) have gaslit him into thinking she doesn’t want him in her life. He loves and cares for her more than anything (heh) and *will* show it. Out of all the dads Viv’s written for the Hellaverse, go figure it’s the actual Devil who’s the best one haha

Disagree. Stolas and Lucifer both hold the same regard and love for their daughter, but haven't made it visible to Via and Charlie because of their respective issues. Stolas cares just as much, he stayed in his shit marriage for her and she is probably one of his few, few reasons to continue, and it offends me to think people are discrediting him. Lucifer, however much he absolutely loves Charlie, made her think her dad doesn't give a single shit about her and only talks to her when he needs her to do something. Lucifer is my favourite chracter in hazbin, but he has fucked up in terms of being a good dad to her, and clearly, he's doing a much better job after the show. And stolas is just the same.
@HannahBanina9 ай бұрын
@@SS-ui7by Mm. I’ll admit I might be biased as Stolas is the main reason I’ve decided to stop keeping up with _Helluva_ (his relationship with Octavia is a relatively small factor, I’ll leave it at that), but I really don’t want this to turn into a shouting match so I won’t argue on him. But I *_will_* defend Apple Daddy as he’s the character I relate to most: while Charlie _claims_ she and Lucifer have never been close, her verse of “More Than Anything” all but outright states that he was still an inspiration to her. And Charlie doesn’t say he _only_ calls when he needs her to do something; sure, that is a frequent reason, but she also says he calls when he’s bored - in other words, when he wants to talk to her for the sake of it. And remember, in his panic over how to answer the phone, he notes that this is the first time _she’s_ reached out to _him_ in years. And from what we *know* (not “what we can theorize”, “what we *know”),* the distance is a relatively recent development; Lilith’s “only” been gone for seven years, which is definitely long enough to have an impact, but in the grand scope of the few centuries Charlie’s been alive, it hasn’t been that long, it’s just an understandable misfortune that it’s negatively affected both of them. Also, while I love Charlie as much as the next person, she’s being a bit delusional in her reasoning for Alastor being more supportive of her. Yes, he’s done more to help the hotel and has a vested interest in it, but he’s also told Charlie to her face that he only wants to help so he can watch her and the residents fail. Lucifer, on the other hand, is reluctant to support the hotel specifically _because_ he doesn’t think it’ll work and doesn’t want his daughter to set herself up for failure. He has a poor way of explaining it, but his interests are in protecting her. It’s not Charlie he doesn’t have faith in, it’s the idea of Heaven and all their rules ever accepting her and her dream (and he’s right, at least where Sera is concerned, but that’s irrelevant here). He even outright says he “[doesn’t] want her to be crushed by them like [he] was.” He just wants his little girl safe. But he’s aware that his little girl is a grown woman who will ask for help if she needs it, and he doesn’t want to impose. When you have depression, it’s really easy to withdraw from people you care about because you wouldn’t wish such a garbage person onto them. And since reconnecting with Charlie, he’s definitely started handling his depression better, and if he really is moving into the hotel in Season 2, I can only imagine things continuing to improve between him and Charlie. I love our Silly Depressed Short King very much 🐤🤍🍎🐍

As well as how much you can tell his fighting against Charlie's idea is in large part fueled by his own past trauma of dealing with Heaven being triggered. He's trying so hard to be a good dad, but just, has a lot of his own baggage holding him back. Also, apparently the "Accordions aggressively" bit in the song was a little nod to the fact that prior to deciding to go with a nearly all Broadway cast, Vivzie's idea for casting Lucifer was Weird Al. That was breaking the rules of the deal that mostly Charlie and hell borne citizens would be spared. I know some say it is because of Dazzle dying and that became the “sacrificial lamb” to summon Lucifer; however he has been shone to teleport. He can make portals. Also Charlie’s summons is on the house, so the fact he immediately appeared once Charlie’s life was in danger and never once showed himself before that in all those years means that the scene had significance in regards to why he was absent. Also, if Adam was able to change the time of the extermination with no push back, means that the specifics of the deal had technically not been breached yet. In the intro (Ep1) it was said he wanted life to be a party and believed in the end that giving free will to humans (Eve) would bring this, but instead it allowed evil to Earth, created hell with damnation, and every evil act a human has ever done is all his fault, no wonder he has depression and is on the edge of a mental breakdown constantly (that gasping mid conversation is rough). Lucifer is scared of heaven because they crushed his dreams and when he went for it anyway all bad things happened and he was punished so he doesn't want something worse for Charlie. As a side note like many people I believe he is nerodivergent because as someone with ADHD I've never sympathized more with a character. His attentions, his distractions, his obsessions, and the way he views the world differently than all around him are good examples of this and explains why he feels so isolated and separate. 5:26 That is the father of the Vaughn Eldrith family, little is known other than that the 2 families are friends and Charlie dated the son Sevathan (top left moments later), pictures of the 2 groups together are also in the pilot and Charlie annoys the daughter (and Mimsy) during her news song. 36:21 Well the deal was all hellborn are free from extermination not just Charlie, the deal likely occurred before she was even born and was ment to give hellborn a chance to be good. 39:43 Vivzpop has described hell as a circus with Lucifer the ring master and the other Sins as the attractions like Beelzebub being the animal performer/tamer as the given example, this explains why everything is circus themed both very tied to him and Charlie but also everywhere else.

For the record (on the chance you haven't found out yet), the rainbow rings you see both in Lucifer's room and even in the hotel in earlier episodes aren't toys: they're the 7 rings of hell, each ring representing a different sin.

I have just noticed the upside down cross on Alastor's nun-outfit. Still not sure wether Jesus did exist in this canon, as an actual Redeemer, or just his legend among humans, so strongly all the symbols were taken even their disfigurations into Hell and Heaven's imagery. Also: Duck Fascination: He is the Ugly Duckling, who was cast out and is still hoping he'd become a beautiful Swan one day.

The Devil's fiddle reference is waaay back before "The devil came down to Georgia" (I love the Steven Ouimete version btw). The myth The Devil has a fiddle came up to people imaginary after Paganini's Caprices, an incredible suite (a group of musical pieces) allegedly he composed in a single night. The suit was so amazing people started to believe he'd got help from The Devil Itself, so he must be a great fiddle player. We can see this myth reflected in a lot of pop pieces: the already mentioned song, in Futuruma the Robodevil has a fiddle :)

{NO SPOILERS SAFE TO READ} It's been theorized with the rubber duck obsession and other personality quirks that Lucifer might be someone that's a high functioning autistic or someone with Asperger's Syndrome and that Lilith might have been driving everything that was involved in their fall. It would explain why he has so many problems with things like social cues and maintaining relationships. Also, even in the storybook in episode 1 it was shown that Lucifer's punishment was to see the worst of what free will brought to humanity in Hell while Lilith thrived and created their kingdom with her songs. Hell is really Lilith's kingdom, but it's still Lucifer's prison. Also, there would be a possibility that other archangels in heaven would be his contacts to arrange a meeting for Charlie as they would be considered his brothers and sisters. Michael, in particular, is often portrayed as his twin so that might be who he's contacting behind the scenes. Him or Gabriel, who was the messenger of God among the archangels.

"More than anything" is my favorite song of the whole show. I wish so badly my own father could be as open to me because he means a lot in my life, especially after my mother passing. But we had a rocky relationship for a while after that, and now that we are living apart, it's easier to mend the pain. So, in some way, this song felt like healing in a lot of way. You won't convinced me that Lucifer and Stolas aren't the same character at heart ! Depressed fathers scared to pursue what could make them happy in fear it might disapear, like a good relationship that's better far away. And great dad, may I add, even if they're not perfect. I love them way too much, they are just too cute. As for Lilith, she's in a very strange position as for now. We've seen her face in pictures so it's not like we don't know what she looks like. A popular theory is that we've seen Eve in that scene, not Lilith, because that person look way more the shadow we saw in the opening scene. And, some merch add to that feeling. After all, we don't know where Eve or Lilith are. Maybe they switched places from time to time. Maybe Eve took Lilith place for her own gain. Everything is still open so keep an open mind :3

(16:13 And we all know it's probably Vox.) Honestly it seemed like Alastor felt very *threatened* and *insecure* this episode; which is interesting to see. I think it's the first time we see *his ears go back*, too! I'm sure he doesn't like not being the most powerful creature in the room (that will actually USE that power), and Lucifer's arrival definitely made him feel threatened. Now add Husk reminding him that he's on a leash... (Ngl I'm really enjoying how much attention to detail you're picking out, it really makes the videos fun to watch!)

i think alastor got his power FROM HUSK. Since Husk used to be an overlord, and demons become more powerful the more souls they own... I think Alastor was just a regular demon, maybe a little stronger than average but not at the level of an overlord, until he was able to take Husk's soul, and probably inherit all the souls that Husk owned too. That would immediately put him on the level of an overlord, hence how he "came out of nowhere".
