"No More Dream (노 모어 드림)" is the lead single with which BTS debuted in 2013. It was received with strong impressions in the k-pop industry, due to its honest and motivating lyrics and authenticity. Written by members of the group, the song criticises the lack of passion in young people and their lack of dreams. Promotions for the song began when its first teaser was released on 6 June 2013. A second teaser was then released on 9 June 2013. The video was released just two days before BTS' official debut album, "2 Cool 4 Skool." On 12 June 2013, the day before BTS made their official debut in South Korea, they introduced themselves in their press release. A day later, BTS performed "No More Dream" on M Countdown, marking their official debut. Jungkook was considered to be part of the rap line when they debut. He was also around the age of 15/16 when this came out.

I understand what you are saying about how you don't see BTS like this because you see them as grown men. For me it is a bit of the opposite, BTS for me were the boys that shyly stood there while the host of Ddang was interviewing them for the first time. They talked about how they were new and no one knew their name and they came from different areas of Korea. This interview was done on June 13, 2013 they day this song was released to the public and they showed the debut after the interview. RM even talked about that interview and said that they feel that one interview spurred their career. Then they did 2 songs this song their debut and "We are bulletproof, pt 2" you should do that one as well that is what made them popular for their dance skills.

There's an excellent video where M Countdown had BTS react to their debut videos. My favorite reaction is when Hobi says something like, "wow, we were really ambitious" and V says, "that was our eyeliner." I'm sure something got lost in translation, but it cracks me up every time. They were originally created as a hip-hop group, but then began to develop in a different direction. And of course, it’s unusual to see them like this for those who first saw them in an older state with very beautiful lyrical and bright vocal songs. At the time of their debut, they were all still children: Jungkook was only 15 years old, Jimin and V were 17 years old, and the oldest, Jin, was 20 years old... But even then they were so cool!.. I love early BTS. There beats, lyrics and story telling is what brought me back to listening to music again. It reminded me of the great music that came out in the 80’s and 90’s. I stopped listening to music in the early 2000’s because it all started sounding the same. There was nothing new, no creativity. It all became cut and paste, a recipe or remake of someone else’s songs. Hip Hop became raunchy. The music was all about sex, drugs and violence. There was no more story telling like Hip Hop lost itself. BTS started as a Hip Hop Idol group and I think they did a great job for being as young as they were. A lot of the OG Hip Hop artists started when they were in their early twenties. JK (youngest) was 15 almost 16 and Jin (oldest) was 20 when this song was debuted on June 13, 2013. I enjoy going back and watching their early content to see how they have grown as artists.

When I watched "No More Dream" for the first time, I was done. This song sent me down a rabbit hole. The first meeting with BTS was "Dynamite" and "Permission to Dance". Then there were: "DNA", "Boy in love", "I need you". I thought they were very cool songs, great choreography, reflecting the message and character of the songs. I found BTS in their baby era.. all of the old songs have a special place in my heart, specially this one and Danger which I discovered BTS through. They’re younger selves thought they had to act “tough” to make it - until in 2016 they explored woth finding themselves like we know them today. So it’s very special song for them, and us. I still see the babies I discovered when I see them today, specially when they experience big events. Like with Jin carrying the olympian torch, I cried because of how far they’ve come. Yep, you nailed it with the ages, sorta. Jimin was 17 (and V). Originally they were meant to be a rap group. When BigHit decided to make them idols, Kook wanted to be a vocalist, so J-Hope switched with him. Early ARMY loved the lyrics for this one. Korean parents are very...strict. Kids usually aren't allowed to follow their own dreams. From birth, parents usually have a plan for their child/ren. Surgeons, Lawyers, Doctors - all of those high paying jobs - are best. Office workers are 2nd and most parents are still proud of their kids if they go into the corporate/"desk monkey" field. Anything less (restaurant staff, janitor, musician, etc.) is frowned upon. This song was telling the youth to go after their dreams, NOT just do what mom/dad wants you to do. Basically: "It's your life, live it how you want." P.S. I still vote for Twitch for Lives. YT is weird...and stupid...when it comes to a LOT of the reactions.

​@MystiqueRisingSun That's actually incorrect. Jimin, Jungkook, V and Jin were signed on as vocalists who BigHit could train to also rap some parts. The 'all rap' group was the previous BTS lineup, which included Supreme Boi. When BangPD decided he wanted an idol group instead (with hiphop elements), half of the old BTS team of rappers quit and RM, Suga and JHope were the only ones who remained. That's when BangPD started scouting and holding auditions for the new lineup of BTS. Idol groups always have to have vocalists, so that was the positions BangPD was trying to fill at the time.

I think is from Debut. Jimin is still a baby in HS, so is V and JK is a freshman. This is my argument, after your initial jump into the rabbit, I always think it's the best to start from the beginning and work forward. It's the best way to follow them through the years. The guys were at JK's grad from middle school and his HS admission and graduation. Hybe is really cracking down on copy write strikes. which to me is ridiculous, it's not like they don't make money plus it's a good way to keep ARMY growing.

I love their early era more so than this current ERA. Don't get me wrong I love every bit of them from beginning to current. I really get into early BTS. We call them eyeliner BTS era. 😊The music was different and they had a little edge to them. A lot of their songs then were r&b flavor. It's funny to me when people react to them now it's hard to see them the way they were in the beginning and I don't quite get it.

I completely love that you respect BTS. I totally agree as young men, especially Jimin in this, should not have to had show their flesh. As baby army I’m the same as you and I’m learning the old stuff slowly with you. I’m often jealous of original Army having been there throughout their growth. I probably wouldn’t have been into their early work at the time but I appreciate where they have come from and where they are now. I love them all for who they all are individually and together. They had been working out continually and wanted them all to show their abs... but at this point they decided on only Jimim was ready for this video... but the others soon caught up and passed him. Jimin had a very hard time balancing the diet and exercise to keep the muscles, especially with their demanding schedule. 🤗

@e0n555 They kept working out until they could all show their abs. Jimin had a hard time keeping his. Jimin actually isn't that short. He's an average 5'9.5 ... but he's petite in size. So if he eats much, it shows in his face. So people started calling him mochi... and he would laugh about it, but it bothered him. His weight was really fine. It just showed in his face. So then he dieted more than he really needed to do. That plus all the performing, he had trouble keeping muscle. RM would tease him about losing his abs... but not in a mean way. Still, there was a lot of pressure on Jimin with some rude people calling him fat... and then others like fans always telling him then that he was too thin. Sometimes, he would go all day and only eat a chicken breast. It was worrying. There were a couple of times he passed out that was likely tldue to low blood sugar from dieting. The last few years, he's been doing better, though, with eating healthy and working out. Jimin is beautiful no matter what!

You're right about them "acting" hardcore. They really pushed Jin and Jimin to act tough, which really went against their personalities. Jin had the hardest time with it, because off camera he's always been the "funny guy" trying to keep the members happy and upbeat. Jimin tried really hard too, but he's such a sweet, gentle soul that it took a toll on him as well, especially since they made him show his abs all the time. That in itself led to him never feeling good enough about his body, causing him to work out and diet excessively. Jin also worried about his body after a comment from a manager that he was too fat (!!!) and he claims to have eaten nothing but chicken breast for the first year. Rough start, but BigHit finally eventually got it right.

Baby BTS! Back at this time they went through a lot. They made RM and J Hope wear the glasses and mask because they were considered too ugly by idol standards, Korean beauty standards. They were ridiculed and hated and hashtag poles to get tossed. It was ridiculous. RM finally ditched the whole thing and decided to be himself.
