The reaction makes it look like the dad has heard this vir ages and the son is listening for the first time and having his mind blown

You can definitely do this entire album. It brought progressive R&B to the modern main stream and its amazing.

what is progressive r&b
@TheFresnan22 Жыл бұрын
@@kennycooper294 Progressive soul (often shortened to prog-soul; also called black prog, black rock, and progressive R&B) is a type of African-American music that uses a progressive approach, particularly in the context of the soul and funk genres. You can trace it back to the 60s. Though I think the first great album in this field is Marvin Gaye's What's Going On which is a masterpiece in itself.

That’s pretty much straight up soul! Modern touches. Every so often I hear a little slap bass (under a synth bass?) Good pick!

"3.15.20" was Gambino's most recent album, back in 2020! Was more back to his hip hop/pop routes though, although with some nice gospel choir parts sprinkled in some tracks. Honestly, I love Donald's other albums and his EPs and stuff but this is his absolute prime and one of the best top to bottom albums I've ever heard, 0 skips. This song actually samples Bootsy Collins "I'd Rather Be With You", but that build at the end with each layer really reminds me of When Doves Cry :) That riff at the end is defo guitar!

Yep 0 skips as Ty says also 😎 pretty cool tune, I really liked it!

Fun fact: This track is not sampled by Bootsy Collins- Rather be With You.... Although I will strongly argue that this track is instrumentally inspired by the Bootsy Collins track

You have to react to Donald Glovers last album now.... "3 15 20".... I actually enjoy this album more andi personally think this album was the best album of 2020

If you missed it this song also has elements of "I'd rather be with you" by Bootsy Collins especially in the intro

So my 10 year old son asked for this album on vinyl for xmas last year - i was worried it would be all misogynist and not really appropriate (showing my prejudice for modern hip hop really) but its become my favourite album of the last couple of years (i know its older than that) - love every track - shades of prince, parliament, funkadelic etc - so proud that he found it. your relationship reminded me of our conversation about the beauty of this track and others on the album - well done guys :)

The song is closer to Bootsy Collins “I’d rather be with you” not similar to night fever in the slightest

Donald glover actually started as an actor and comedian in community and his Netflix special “weirdo” before he started making music

Maybe show him some other Gambino so he can see the diversity in his music!

This is a combination of Prince, Bilal, and perhaps The Isley Brothers -- not really a new sound. This is like some old school funk and soul.
