Yeah I think this theme best fits Guts later in the series when he's more contemplative.
@johnsmoke17854 ай бұрын
@@HDZ274 Imho Guts was always contemplative. After the first raid with the Band of the Hawk, he was sitting up at the city-wall and was reflecting what has happened. It's just we don't get to look inside his head most of the time. That comes later after Griffith's speech at the fountain. Then we get a lot to see of his inner thoughts. And even as a child I would argue that he was contemplative a lot. But again we don't get to see what he thinks. Just all the (childhood) traumas he had and the nightmares he has due to them make him very contemplative in the first place. Or thing about the end of Chitch (don't spoil). And if you talk about release order: Even in the Black Swordsman arc we can see him reflecting on the events (e.g. when Vargus dies). While he tries to actively shut down those thoughts and feelings to focus on his mission, he only tries. But he still is a contemplative character overall. And finally, Guts always listens when someone criticizes him, reflects upon it and gives an honest answer. Even if it's Corkus who is yelling at him all the time.

I always keep my dad in touch with Berserk since he knows it has literally saved my life in the past, one day he was at my house, that was last year, I asked him if he wanted to hear Guts' theme and he said "sure", put it for him on spotify on my headset and let it play for him, he was 73 years old at the time(he is 74 now), his eyes slowly started to water throughout the theme, when it ended I asked him what he thought about it and he said "its pretty amazing, it somehow made me remember the very best and very worst moments of my life, it leaves you in a melancholic yet "everything will be alright" mood..." and I just replied "thats Berserk in a nutshell"

I think, “Maybe it’s Guts in his quieter moments…” is more or less the quote of the day. Far as I can tell, it’s the mood/tone/sentiment that keeps Guts sane around the campfire. Life doesn’t have to be happy to be meaningful. Joy’s not always pleasant, but it’s a necessity.

Guts is so awesome! He continues to live by his own battleborn principles no matter what it costs him. As the series goes on you really get a sense for just how amazing of a guy Guts really is. This theme really symbolizes the hidden depths of his character. He's a really caring, sensitive guy. That's why his rage is so deep. It comes from a place of enduring humanity.
@ieatmice7513 ай бұрын
Guts is not truly the brutish berserker that people see him as. He is a lost soul and a truly intelligent and introspective man. He is definitely on par with Griffith in terms of intellect and philosophical understanding as shown by his decision to leave the band of hawk and the bonfire of dreams scene. He is man born of a lost world searching for peace and the family that was torn from him time and again, whether that be his dead mother, his upbringing with Gambino and his mercenaries, or finally the one where he felt he truly belonged, in the Band of the Hawk. His crusade against evil is everlasting because evil is a constant in life as is suffering. He has hopefully learnt though by now, through his love of Casca, Shierke, Farnese and Isidro that suffering is alleviated only by our bonds of love through others

I love the music of berserk. It shows a whole new side of berserk that can’t really be explained in words. I think I saw somewhere that some of the music for berserk was created before the anime. Also I think the berserker style he is mentioning comes in through a lot of the other songs most notably “blood and guts.” I also love that even though there are these heavy metal songs in the soundtrack that guts theme is mellow and shows there deeper side to guts rather than a hard metal song.

The piece is a representation of Guts’ search for his dream and peace. The song has a melancholic sense of longing and loneliness, the female voice in the distance feels as if it’s calling out to Guts. Like a light a the end of the tunnel. When the male voice comes in it feels like an emotional release, a sense of acceptance, of peace, of healing. It’s the very manifestation of Guts’ refusal to give up, his resilience, the continual struggle. The song is emblematic of suffering and loneliness, the distant glimmer of hope, and the acceptance of pursuing that hope in spite of the constant pain. A masterpiece of a musical arrangement, utterly beautiful in every way. The perfect theme for our favorite struggler.

When i first heard this song i thought it was so goofy but now its come to represent something meaningful to me. Whoever wrote it definitely did it justice and i think perfectly captured guts' melancholy nature. Most people think guts is a rage monster but he is very clearly not. He is only brought to rage when people force him to. Most of the time he has a plain and stern, yet gentle demeanor. Notably guts is a lone wolf. But not in the heroic type of way. I think he wants to have attachments but his own psychology sees himself as not having a place to belong and being different even with his "family" the boh. Guts' theme is just very smart and perfect for representing the lost and meaningless nature of guts the side of him that people dont understand since they just see him as a monster of the battlefield.

I'm so happy he's finally reacting and hearing Berserk's music! Your dad may not understand it right now, but he definitely will as time goes on and he learns more about who Guts truly is on the inside. Gut's theme is like his heart and soul. Also, I know he's so far away from Volume 13 of the deluxe editions, but there is a short flashback where Miura shows a glimpse of Gut's childhood that really helps you understand his psychology. It's chapters 329-331 titled "Spring Flowers of Distant Days" and it's sooo good that it deserves it's own medal. If the doctor told me I had 30 minutes left to live, I'd go read that again while listening to Gut's theme and cry lol. When I first read Berserk >10 years ago, it was in that moment where I felt like I finally understood Guts and Miura as well. I don't know how to describe it really, but it was eye opening and I still recall that moment to this day. I really want your dad to keep reading Berserk at least up to Volume 14, but if he were to ever stop prematurely for whatever reason, he *needs* to read those 3 chapters since it's not really spoilers because it takes place before he meets the Band of the Hawk.

It's definitely a theme that usually only plays during quiet moments, it's introspective and sorrowful. You have to remember that Guts doesn't necessarily like fighting. He's good at it, it's his job, but think about what he really wants and how he evolves as a person through the entire Golden Age arc, and you can see this kind of theme fitting when Guts is thinking about leaving the Band of the Hawk, or during that quiet moment with Casca. These moments are when Guts is human.
