I worked with elderly people, and I want to work with children in the future. I can honestly say I have never said anything to a person I was caring for that I would mind having played for everyone I know. I had bad days, really bad days. I went to work the day we found out my uncle committed suicide and had to deal with a nasty bathroom incident. I still managed not to call anyone a bastard or scream at them. I did cry in the bathroom during my break, but even that isn't all that shameful imo. I hope these people lost their jobs over this, but having been a special ed aide in high school, I doubt it.

i agree, man i remember my school days! kids would make gas noises or move their bag zippers a certain way and then say i had gas and had let one rip and i'd be so upset they on occasion would put me in the hall and when mom arrived she'd see and ask why i was outside and the teacher would be clueless. I really regret not telling mom sooner but it was also highly likely the kids would have lied about doing it. *shakes head in disgust* i was just a kid though and didn't really understand and mom still assures me that if she'd known i'd have been home-schooled

I was verbally abused by my teachers growing up. I remember hiding underneath my desk every day because I was scared of my Kindergarten until I got moved to another class. I’ve had teachers who are awesome ( 9th grade ELA teacher, 8th grade History teacher, teachers in the 5th grade) and I’ve had teachers who verbally abused their students. 15, to say the least. There’s a quote from Girl Meets World that fits what I went through. “ Because a teacher who brings you to failure, who wants you to quit, who hasn’t taught you anything, is no teacher at all.” Everyone’s had a teacher along those lines, that’s the truth.
@ramonamilawaterfall3361

Sharon Jensen That’s really sad. My favorite teacher was my 9th grade ELA teacher. I’ve had a lot of bad ELA teachers, but that was my favorite. She was really funny, she made me laugh every day in her class. I know what it’s like when your best friends are gone, mine moved to Tennessee. It’s really hard without them.
@ramonamilawaterfall3361

Sharon Jensen My 9th grade teacher’s name was Mrs. Dunn. She would joke a lot with her students, “ Kacen quit reading like a robot. Milton! Milton!” I remember when she had my cousin do push-ups in front of my whole ELA class. He kept getting the answer wrong while I was telling him it in alphabet sign language. The last time he got it wrong she said, “ Abraham, get up here. Drop down give me 20.” She was joking though. Sometimes if she helped us with something in class, she’d say, “ which means you owe me cookies.” I actually bought her cookie dough mix to make cookies a couple of times. The last day of school I waited outside her classroom door since the school doors opened early in the morning. I bought her a solar lamp of the Disney character Dopey, cookie dough mix, and the book A Dog’s Journey. She was so excited about them. My Spanish 2 teacher Mrs. Mendoza was awesome too. My algebra 1 teacher Coach Holland slept with 4 of her students. The messed up thing is that there’s nothing about it in the paper in my town to this day, almost as if they covered it up. Everyone talked about it, the principal just came in and told she was fired and to leave when she was teaching us. What’s weird is that sometimes I hear noises no one in family hears since my best friends move away. It’s always these screeching sounds in a corner of my room, or outside in the backyard of my home. I’ll look behind me but no one’s there, I think it’s weird for certain, but I’m not going insane. I know that they’re signs from GOD, though.

Sharon Jensen My dad’s side of the family is the same way. I have cousins stuck in materialism, and I have cousins who don’t talk to us because they’re copy catting us. I’ve been surrounded by crossroads, and I’ve felt the same way with my own parents. Their problems, making that my own because of knowing they’ll never understand. I had that happen in art class. My art teacher said to draw something from life. I drew a butterfly because that has air passing through it’s wings. Turns out my art teacher wanted me to draw something in the classroom. She emailed my parents and the school counselor that manages our schedules. When I talked to my mom, soon my dad came into the room. I tried to leave but my dad shouted, “ NO YOU DO NOT GET TO LEAVE! Sit down!” Tried to leave the room again. “ DO YOU WANT US TO CUT OFF YOUR CELL PHONE!” My dad screamed. “ No sir,” I whispered. “ I CAN’T HEAR YOU!” My dad shouted. “ NO SIR!” I yelled frustratingly. That’s when my younger brother came into the room asking us what all of that hubbub was about. I was crying my eyes out. My parents told him what happened. “ Seriously, you’re not fucking 12 years old anymore, you need to fucking grow up.” “ Your teacher told you to draw something and you drew what! RAINBOWS and flowers! We were embarrassed to get that email, now your art teacher wants to change your schedule!” My dad screamed again. That just made me cry harder. “ You’re how old, 17! You’re a grown up now! “ He shouted. “ Dad! She told us to draw something from real life! I thought of the wings of the butterfly because air passes through them!” I yelled. “ NO! YOU DO NOT disrespect us! Or your teachers for that matter!” My dad shouted. I’ve always heard my dad say how ungrateful we are growing up. I grabbed my favorite book from the corner of the bed. Flipping it to chapter 13. “ Don’t read!” My dad shouted. “ It’s my favorite chapter! Please!” I yelled. “ NO! You drew rainbows instead of what you’re teacher asked you to draw, you embarrassed us! You want to be someone who works in the film industry well you do what you’re told!” My dad shouted. I left, and hid, bawling my eyes out underneath my bed holding my favorite book. I’m actually 17 in real life, now I want to run away, and live somewhere else. I’ve always been the one in my family with a sensitive heart, and they see it as a weakness. Thing is, acting may be my ticket out of high school, and into a better life. I’m too scared to tell my parents about my anxiety attacks knowing how they’ll react. Especially my dad.

As a teacher, protecting children's well-being is the priority. This priority surpasses any privacy claim. I cannot accept that she was just "having a bad day." The father had to notice a pattern, make the connection, then develop a plan to determine if his suspicions were true. That's not a bad day... that's ongoing behavior. You should never treat a child in a way that you wouldn't if their parents were watching. No exceptions.

Exactly the same situation and reason for homeschooling my special needs daughter. She was being bullied by bigger kids, things thrown at her, teachers overlooking her. We were not allowed to put her into a different school So...hubby and I talked it over, figured out a way to keep the finances together for the duration, I took a "work at home" job that I did on my home computer for extra )really good) money and she did so well we were able to get her into a very cool charter school called Mountain Rose Academy for her senior year. She got great grades and met new friends with similar goals and achievements and the teachers were awesome beyond awesome. There was no bullying whatsoever and the atmosphere in the class was stunning and it was such a huge change from the crap fest and permissible violence they subject the kids to at "regular" school. My daughter was on the yearbook team at the new school and she absolutely blossomed as a human being through all of it. Never underestimate the power, the knowhow and the daring of the take-charge mom and dad AND THANK YOU MOUNTAIN ROSE CHARTER SCHOOLS!!

Shaun Dreclin Yea you are correct, a kid could be a little shit for weeks on end, then when the teacher reacts in a bad way, record it and get the teacher fired, which I have heard about happening before. Though in this case I don't believe that happened specially when the kid is mentally disabled. The think is in both cases, the teacher shouldn't do a bloody thing and become disrespectful, if the teacher got a problem with the kid, take it up with the parents and management of the school.

If an autistic student is talking to them self,let them,its bad to tell them to stop,yes,if they are doing it rather loud ask them politely to quiet down. But telling them to shut up and in the same hostile manner as the teacher,tot he child,they see it as th teacher is saying that they are stupid,or different in the bad way. And by the child getting upset isn't bad behaviour,the child is UPSET,by telling them to shut up,you are telling them to stop showing emotion all together. I'm not just saying what I think I know it's true because my brother is Autistic. I like to inform people about disabled children and that what they do isn't bad. In fact,most autistic children may simply act dumb,but they are really smart.. for instants,,my brother is amazing at puzzles. Now my dad is a puzzle master,but even he gets stuck,and my brother can solve it. Autistic children may also act as if they don't understand,and which,really they don't. But give them some time and don't yell at them because the don't understand,that influences them getting upset then you'd more likely get mad. Just,let the children be. The teachers need to just teach,not diss their students.
@foxinkarmilla4560
@foxinkarmilla4560 7 жыл бұрын
And also making fun or bullying autistics isn't good either,they are more likely SMARTER than you. Students in my school talk about the disabled kids,I don't appreciate it. I think the father was right in doing what he did, especially when he is being told that his son is acting up. We know our own kids better than anyone & if you're being told something about your child, that is totally out of character, you want to find out what exactly, is going on. Just because someone chooses a profession, it doesn't mean they're any good at it, one example - whats been recorded on nanny-cams. Teachers who mistreat children, should not be doing the job & when they get caught, they should be told to sling their hook & never be allowed to work with kids again. As for the woman who said about 'bad days', yes, we all have bad days but we don't take it out on our kids; that 'teacher' is supposed to be a professional, so she must have had some training, so she knew that what she did, was WAY out of line; remember we only heard what went on during one day. Now ask yourself, how long had the child been ridiculed by that 'teacher', because it had to have been going on for a while, the school did inform the father about the 'trouble' his son was causing.

Asil Etihw Yes, no problem. The principle of "if you've got nothing to hide, you've got nothing to fear" has been used in the past in order for dictatorships to institute laws that invade people's privacy. It's like the NSA today searching our emails. Are they going to find anything on me? No, but they shouldn't be looking through my emails.

I think any teacher that verbally abuses a child should be fired. I had a teacher that would mimic me in this high pitched voice and once I knocked something over and she yelled at me like I was in boot camp to pick it up. And when we went to the principals office to talk about her behavior she would act all sweet and nothing at happened. She's still working there today.(this was in second grade I'm in high school now)

actually audio comes pretty much standard what people should ask is why the need for them in any classroom at all its bad enough there are bullys in schools and what they do can be devastating where some of those students commit suicide other students bring guns to schools and many die, but now days who do we find as bullies? the teachers who we trust to teach our children not to degrade them while other students look on laughing then some of the students continue the bullying its sad what do we do to protect those children?

WhiteWolfos I have a nephew in junior high with autism and he finds it hard to make friends.What advice can I give him?
@WhiteWolfos
@WhiteWolfos 10 жыл бұрын
trufantom21 You can help your nephew make friends by giving explicit social instructions such two things: as take turns in a conversation/role play and start conversations if possible maybe even about a topic they like. This is the easiest explanation I can give. Its difficult for me to say exactly as alot of autism students have different levels of autism with different things. It will take alot of practice. My father had me start with going to the swapmeets and asking the sellers about the items and prices {then haggling-level 2 ughh} until I started getting more used to it. Sometimes it even ended up in a short conversation! It was really hard at first even if it sounds pretty trivial but it worked alot to an extent. I used to just try to stay in a group and follow students around but I wouldnt really talk much at all and it was really difficult for me to ask or talk to them and sometimes I would end up going to the library and hang out by myself because its a bit frustrating but the more practice you get from talking to different people the more you can speak your own mind more comfortably and have a good time speaking to people. If your intuition tells you they feel comfortable and open talking to you and you the same you can start a good friendship. Doing small favors sometimes or helping out from your heart from time to time and being kind to random people helps too to being recognized as honest, helpful and kindhearted by other people{you dont need to talk much at this point just take action}. The will to raise your hand and ask or answer questions helps not only with your grade and teacher rep but being recognized by fellow students. Next thing you know people will unconsciously start talking to you more in classes. Just try to reply back to their conversations in good manner. If you have talent like arts or music etc show others or make it viewable as well. Show your fellow classmates stuff they may like or new things that are going on. "Did you know this happened yesterday? With many of these things its possible to make lots of friends and a couple of best friends. Autism takes alot of social instructions and best of all practice like many things so good luck! Make sure you push him/her alittle from time to time and you may instruct him/her eg a store: "Hey would you ask her what the price of this is? etc" For slightly unwilling:" Just ask her what the price is" etc If he/she wants to make friends he has to be willing. A store clerk is usually a neutral conversation until you go to level two and haggle or talk about the news or weather etc in which cases you can be "more visible/memorable" to the other person. I hope this helps your nephew. :]

We are trained for dealing with those "difficult" kids. I have yet to meet one who chooses to misbehave. There is always an underlying reason...be it medical, psychological, home, bullying...the list goes on. Those are the kids who need us most. We set the tone for how they will be treated in the classroom and what they can expect as they graduate into the world. This teacher should be fired, in the least, and taken to civil court.

Megan Babcock Spot on, thank you :D. Perhaps teaching is not his ideal profession because he clearly cannot handle all his students' needs going by this video. A good teacher can keep their composure no matter how rowdy the students' get; eventually they gain the students' genuine respect and each class goes smoothly. At the same time I feel bad for the teacher because he is probably over-stressed and over-worked with that kind of anger. Hope he either learns to teach and treat his students well or find a better profession that suits him.

I taught temporarily as a computing teacher in a high school before getting a better job. There was a teacher who scratched a kid on the neck and it was recorded, but the head teacher said there was no evidence and that they shouldn't have had their phone out. And the students told me about it while they were in my class so I decided to go tell the head with the same video and she listened and that teacher got fired. Just because of this I quit working at that school after a few weeks and moved to another school.
