@paul Anthony Sexual harassment, in the context of schools (public or otherwise), is when classmates, teachers, or any other person in a school setting decides to make sexual comments or advances that are unwanted by the person receiving them. Asking a 4th grader who, where I’m from, is an elementary schooler ‘have you seen a black penis’ would be sexual harassment because it is an unwanted comment that is inappropriate for the school setting and age of the person receiving the comment

There were a lot of kids who picked on me when I was growing up. My mom always called them my friends. I kept telling her they WERE NOT my friends. She always said if you go to school with them then they are your friends. She never understood that they bullied me. As far as I'm concerned, a HS diploma isn't worth the paper it's printed on. Now, if the teachers were paid decently, and vetted more thoroughly, then it's perfectly reasonable. But right now, schools are for learning to interact with kids your age, and math. I'd say reading, but if you scroll Facebook for 10 seconds even that becomes questionable.

That teacher’s response is exactly why so many kids are bullied. It’s exactly why so many kids don’t say anything. It’s exactly why so many shootings happen at schools and suicides happen because nobody is doing the right thing. These kids need support at home and at school. Like it or not the teachers are equally responsible for the conduct of the child because they are with you part half of their day and for you not to set a good example… for you not to protect them while they’re in your hands- you’re wrong all the way and shouldn’t be in any form of childcare. Or he's very strict, in the right way. My parents were strict, and because of the values they taught us, we knew we could go to them because they'd uphold those values in front of anyone who did the wrong thing such as the teacher in this incident did.
@DaveNagrom3 жыл бұрын
@@jb6712 , RIGHT! I think the term strict has been given a negative connotation. If by strict you mean, consistently maintaining a standard of discipline and character, reiterated and reinforced by education, communication and appropriate punishment, yes. Children thrive with boundaries. It lets them know that they are loved. Furthermore, when you let your children know that you will advocate for them, and, when possible, protect them from harm, you become reliable stewards. They will have a sense of morality, and are more likely to do the right thing. This child knew that what her teacher was telling her to do was wrong. Good for her!

Teachers don't need to be fired every time kids are bullied. You won't have many teachers working that's for sure. What kids need to learn how to do is stick up for themselves like we did in the 80's, and not go tattling every time someone hurts their feelings. Especially by what someone says. Now, if they touched you, that would be another matter.

Knowing they are elementary kids... properly beating and touching and hurting each other. I left my job as a para, because the teacher I worked under with told me not to bother with referrals or telling the principal anything. That teacher gaslighted me on so many things... I just left. At that time I lost my father and great aunt, so used my family situation as a ticket to resign. I escorted myself out. This system is stupid and anyone who is going into any teaching field go major in something that pays more and become a professor in that field, because the school system, whether public, charter, or private... they are all trash. They don't care about real academic learning. It is all a pathetic joke. Leave while still having respect for your own intelligence and dignity. The check is not worth the headache of poor management. I rather go back to my business degree and focus on being my own manager at a store or funeral home. I have the stomach and heart for both, unlike those in the education system that let kids harass and hurt other kids.

Storytime: This happened a couple months ago, when I was in summer school It was time to go and all the bus kids had to wait in the cafeteria for their bus to be called The isolated tables I usually sat at were occupied so I had to sit at another table. I sat next to these two guys, I believe in 8th grade, while I was in 7th at the time Anyways I get bored and decide to take out my drawing binder that I take everywhere with me, take out some blank paper, and began drawing. He noticed me drawing and scoot closer to me. I'm a pretty good drawer most say so I'm guessing I caught his eye. He then suddenly asked me "Ay yo, can you draw a d*ck? ". I froze from the question and try changing the subject. But he was fixated on me drawing him a d*ck. Now, I'm a kind person, well, overly kind. I like pleasing people and making them happy. I don't really like disappointing people, I'd rather just do what the person wants. But I was just too uncomfortable and kept stalling and trying to change the subject until my bus was called. During that, he kept asking me and then asked " do you know how to draw a d*ck, you know what here" And began teaching me how to draw a d*ck... Yeah Finally my bus was called and I got up and went outside to my bus..
