Its that the brain hasn't relayed the new information to the conscious part of the brain yet so he doesn't know what he is doing sort of speak. But when he did this the conscious part relays that information back to the not conscious part and is thus looped back and tells that part what he was able to do that he never had been able to before.

Colored blind people used to be the ones asking "what color is that...what color is this." After they get the glasses everyone else is asking the colored blind person "what color is that...what color is this." ..Total role reversal.

+andreskizzo well it really just depends on what KIND of color blindness the person has. Like I just got done watching a video where the guy couldn't see red/green properly. It all just looked brown to him, till he tried the glasses. Then BAM! pink, red, purple. and all the various shades of green have meaning :P (but he never had a problem with blue, so it wasn't earth shattering to see the ocean or anything)

‘These are welding glasses from grandmas house’ He later says, when he looks outside, ‘what an ugly day’ as a joke. His guess was good when he saw certain colours for the first time: the pink, purple, the blue and the red and orange. The yellow seem to get mixed up with green. Everything is a learning experience. After watching some of these videos many people now understand just how blessed and fortunate we are to have healthy eyes to see the beauty than is in nature and all around us...

@eolsunder7 жыл бұрын
pretty simple. Your eyes have 3 types of "cones" that register the colors red, blue and green. You tell different shades of color and different pigments the same way, such as purple, orange, etc. Colorblind people have problems with certain cones especially the ones that see reds and greens. This is why many can still see blue fine, and yellow sometimes. So because many have problems seeing the reds and greens correctly, the glass's are made to split the lightwaves so that the red and green light is separated and can be seen easier with the weakened colorblind cones. Similar to how a prism works. If you just look at light you can't really see red, blue, etc but if you filter the light through a prism now suddenly you can see the colors. It's still the same light but just split so you can see it. The glass's split up the red and green light before it enters their eyes so their weakened cones can now see it and register it normally.

I've watched several of these videos now, they're quite fascinating and heart-warming (thanks for uploading this one!). One thing I may never understand is when someone with the glasses points at a new-to-them colour and then says "That's red/purple/...". How do they know which formerly unseen colour is which? Sure, they must have heard the names all their lives, but they haven't perceived them yet, or have they? (I do understand that colourblind people can see some colours normally, just not all.)
@ElSheaO4 жыл бұрын
AsEasyAs_1,10,11 I asked him that question! He said it’s because he’s always been able to see some colors, and just kind of used deductive reasoning to know the others since he knows pink is similar to red, yellow is similar to green, etc. That’s why he thought the lime green one was yellow!

How do you know what color is what if you've never seen colors ?? He knew the balloon colors ?? Not picking or debating just curious ??
@ElSheaO Жыл бұрын
We asked him that! So with his color blindness, he can see some colors. He can see blues and yellows, but reds and greens are very murky and usually just show up as muted shades of the colors he can see. But he’s had it for so long that he knows what colors are supposed to be what. So for example, he knows red is supposed to be super bright, and doesn’t look like what he sees as blue and yellow, and he knows that pink is a lighter shade of red. So it’s kind of a process of elimination.

It’s interesting how with most of these enchroma videos there’s one woman (or sometimes two) in the background constantly dictating and directing and incessantly talking about what to do. Why can’t this just happen organically? It’s so selfish. 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
