I feel Matt on Doom Eternal, especially after beating it. When you unlock more of the mechanics like dashing and meat hook it becomes VERY hard to play those earlier stages. It feels like you're moving in slow motion and your wings are clipped.

BTW GRIME is really frustrating. The game only gives you teleportation between zones AFTER the final boss, and there's no NEW GAME + and TONS of missable content. I was so frustrated to reach the end boss, no teleportation so I could grind or grab the things I've missed, having to walk 10 - 20 minutes back to the start zone and discover that I would never get 100% on equipment collection. Plus the game has tons of cheap tricks like 2 enemies on your ass with another one throwing shit at you outside the screen. There's "Souls" problems like some weapon status only appearing at the end of the game (like Matt mentioned), the status besides life and stamina only adds attack damage, NOTHING MORE, the armor are only cosmetic which can be good but it feels kinda without purpose as every armor looks like a piece of rock with different color. The LORE and universe is great, and there's a section called "Final Performance" THAT IS INCREDIBLY GOOD, it's one of the best moments I've had with a Metroidvania, but the rest of the game is just boring or frustrating. But I can see this same team making a really good game in the future as long as they stop sticking to bad mechanics just for the sake of them, they said giving Teleport to the player as something they didn't intend to due to it would trivialize the difficulty of the game or something on Steam reviews answers, they changed their mind later.

Wolf Children is the ultimate mom anime movie, maybe besides the implied wolf man sex scene early on lmao. Also Liam, if you haven't already, you should really look into the analysis of the rebuild movies as a sort of meta-textual revisiting of Evangelion as a franchise/cultural phenomenon. I really don't think they were meant to be taken as just a straightforward remake of the series both for meta and lore reasons that are made clear in the final movie. I found these write-ups pretty helpful (unfortunately can't post links in youtube comments): "Once More With Fury: Rebuilding Evangelion" (Wrong Every Time blog) "Hundreds of ways to say hell is other people and also love is other people: Evangelion 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon A Time" (Atelier Emily blog) Also "Thrice Upon a Time" is because it's the third (and final) ending

Hey Gorg, was wondering if you'd heard of Old World at all? It's a historical 4X that came out of Early Access recently, sort of like someone took the Ancient era of a Civ game and blew it up to its own full game. And tossed some Crusader Kings-style characters in there. And a whole bunch of other stuff too, there's a crazy amount of ideas. It's intimidatingly dense, the resemblance to the more recent Civ games belies just how involved it can be, but if you're an ancient history nerd (which I know you are) you'll probably get a kick out of all the historical references both large and small. Pretty clear the devs were big history nerds themselves and put a lot of that in there, you don't include four different kinds of cereal crop unless you're really passionate about this shit.

At 1:54:15. Psychonauts 2 was that kind of game for me. It actually lived up to expectations and I enjoyed it a lot. Also, you have to remember that the final fantasy vii remake is only about 1/6th released now and at this rate will be finished about 2045 for how long they take on games.

Was planning on mentioning the great ace attorney again, but a few days ago I played Behind the frame and that is one you should seriously all check out! Very short game of 1,5 hours, but that is just the perfect time for us working men ;) (did not finish listening before writing this in case they mention them, but it is not a complaint after all so not too embarassing)

I was baffled (baffled, I said!) to see how positive the reviews of 12 Minutes were. I had a pretty miserable experience with it. It's real clunky, characters cut each other off with poorly written dialogue and the protagonist alternates between having a meltdown and being pretty ok with doing some nasty stuff. I feel like the game lacks basic things, like an option to restart the loop from the menu (you have to walk out of the apartment) and a way to skip some of the dialogue and scenes (you can only do that sometimes for some reason, and even then you can only speed it up). It's OK for the first like, four or five loops, but when you hear Willem Dafoe talking on the phone for the twentieth time and you can't skip it, it makes you go crazy. Even more so if you can see some of the plot coming (which I don't think is hard to do) and still have to go through a couple of loops so the story "catches up" with you. Really wish this was executed better. It kinda just made me want to play Her Story again.
