Castlevania is in a weird spot where it never properly jumped forward a generation. Symphony of the Night is a classic, but it was always destined to end up on handheld consoles since the design is more or less a fancy looking SNES game. If properly handled a modern Castlevania would probably end up as a Soulslike in this modern era.

You shouldn't have skipped the interview bit. Noriaki Okamura has been a long time Konami dev since Policenauts days + he was candid about state of MGS, Kojima (indirectly), mixed reception of recent ports and why the remake was near 1:1.

It's beat 4 beat , they had no choice but to make it so.. The director and writer doesn't work for Konami. Meaning no new cutscenes, dialogue, or quality of life controls besides the obvious. Because Kojima was like f*** you..😂 You fire me? Then remake my magnum opus.. Behind my back? Fine, as long as i get paid for it.. All jokes aside this and SH 2 really needs to sell well.. In order for Konami to become relevant again.. Im afraid both games well get the Dead Space remake treatment.. An Awesome remake , but unfortunately did not sell well enough on newer consoles , to warrant more remakes in the future.. SH 2 personally can't be remade , but Blooper Team thinks otherwise.. The Game Boy Color used an LCD screen, defined pixelated outlines are exactly how games looked on it. The games weren't blurred like old 2D consoles hooked up to CRT TVs. You could see the actual pixel grid as if the game was drawn on graph paper, and there are filters to replicate that, but smoothing out all the edges is going against how those games looked and what the developers would have designed around.

Thanks for a great playthrough. This is the my favorite game in the series. I love Gray Fox's story and I wish there was a game or animated series revolving around Gray Fox from his youth up to the transformation to the cyborg ninja.

I'm pretty sure in terms of Ocelot's motivations, it ultimately comes down to him being loyal to Big Boss. Big Boss was betrayed by everyone he ever trusted, and Ocelot, the serial backstabber is the only person to never betray Big Boss.

Another reason why newer fans seem to view Big Boss more as a tragic hero rather than a villain is the whole Zero/Patriots/Cipher vs Big Boss conflict. A lot of the conversation about this online that I've seen usually tends to boil down to "Big Boss was fighting Zero who is even more evil" or "Zero/Cipher/the Patriots smeared Big Boss image".

I honestly think Death Stranding was Kojima’s most deliberately funny writing yet. I think it’s a lot more self-aware than people give it credit for. My evidence for this is that the first song you hear in the game is called, “Don’t Be So Serious”. It’s also helpful to think of it this way: If the MGS series are blockbuster action flicks, Death Stranding is an epic sci-fi novel.

Well I've been replaying on Extreme this evening & to my suprise I found a Crawlspace with Chaff Grenades on the Snowfield where Snake fights Raven in the M1, I've been playing Metal Gear Solid since 1999 & have never noticed this.

Thanks for the awesome stream, George, can't wait for Metal Gear 2! Its not my favorite, but man is it seriously up there, its such a great game even for years after its time. As a side note, I'm sorry to hear that critical looks at games have been slowing down. Feels like its not just your channel that has dried up on that subject, and its a real shame. I think video games have become too mainstream and samey and aren't taking as many risks as they used to. At least there's still some gems in the Indie scene like Balero recently, but there haven't been any good philosophically-driven game themes in awhile. No matter what I hope you keep pushing, take care of yourself and your mom, and keep enjoying some of what you're doing.
