I love creating videos like these and being able to share it with others. I'm so blessed to be apart of this moment.This family had asked me to film their son's senior night basketball game. The son thinks I'm there to film a day in the life leading up to his game night but what he didnt know is that his dad was visiting out of state just to see him play for the first time and the moment is priceless! Check it out!

I wish they understood that. My son just turned 16 hasn't seen his dad in over 12 years. And before that only saw him 1 year. His dad has his phone number hasn't called him. It breaks my heart cause I know it breaks his. Especially since he sees my sons sisters. He one day was at my nephew's and his sister showed up. My son started to build his relationship with her. But he told me he saw that his dad was calling his sister. Broke my heart hearing him talk about it cause I know it hurt.

Zazu Yumsum ... You should be ashamed. None of us watching this video knows the past circumstances, or anything about what transpired that led to them being apart. But what we DO know is the joy and love he had when he laid eyes on his Dad... with tears to back it up. He couldn’t get to him fast enough. That alone should tell you that if HE doesn’t hold any ill will or grudges against the Father that was out of HIS life.... Then why should you? None of us are perfect and never makes mistakes, not even you. The past is just that, the Past. You can’t change it. Either make peace with it and move on, or let it become a heavy weight that keeps you from moving forward into what could be a Great Life.

As a single mama, this gives me hope. My ex husband walked out on us 10 years ago for another woman and her kids. He shows up every now and then, even though he lives in the same city. I teach my kids to love him and pray for him even in their moments where they hate him or ask why he doesn't want them. In my heart I know he's not a good father, but I also know kids need their daddies even if it's here and there. My hope is that when they're grown, the love will still be there and maybe their relationship can mend like this, hugs to this family ❤❤

I disliked this because there is no excuse for a father to miss out on 17+ years of his son's life. The son is amazing and talented and will be successful, and his mom and grand ma are certainly heroes but why should they have to pamper and coax a grown behind man to come and see his own son play an important game?

As a father, I have to give credit to the MOTHER!! I was very young when I had my first child. And, I tried everything under the sun to have a relationship with my first child; well into her 20's. I always thought she would understand once she would get older. Her mother's family were impossible to deal with. Told me they wish she wasn't mine, wish she had another father, etc. This was all to my face throughout her adolescent years. So, I could imagine what was being said behind the scenes. When she turned 23, I was married at that time for 9 years, and with a 7 and 4 years old. Yet and still, something was missing from my first born. I decided it was time to tell my side of the story, and just have an adult conversation since she was 23. So, I told her I would be in town and would like to take her to dinner. I stopped at my parents house and got the box my mama saved with all the documentatioms of the events throughout the years that included custody rejections three times, vocal recordings from when I tried to visit, and calendars from other events that took place. So, we went to dinner. I started it off by saying I would love to have her in our lives, but there are some things you truly need to know now that you're older. So, I started going through the box and pulling out those things. For each one, I explained what they were, and they were dated. Most of this happened in the 90's, so I had the college tape recorders we used to use. The response I got was, to say the least, took my breathe away. It literally made me speechless. She still blamed me for not being there. She blamed me for becoming a lawyer and getting married and having two other children who have everything in the world. She blamed me for everything. Basically said I didn't want her. At this point, since she spoke toe like a regular dude on the street, I was at my end from years of trying. I just went in. I said, a man who doesn't want their child wouldn't go for custody three times. A man who doesn't want their child wouldn't have taken the verbal abuse, and show up to every so for birthday party, sporting event, recital, graduation, etc. I didn't miss one thing, did I? She said no. Then I continued, a man who didn't want their child wouldn't have bought them a brand new car for their 16th birthday even though they didn't deserve it. So, while I was not perfect and implicit in things when I was younger, I was more mature once I passed my bar to go for custody. So, you're too old not to understand these things. Your mother wasn't the one that raised you. Your grandmother did. So, you need to start blaming the real person, and recognized what I went through and still tried being there every step of the way. But, since you cant., I wash my hands of it. I'm done. You're grown and won't change. If you ever decide to recognize the real deal, I'm always here. I'm going to make you copies of everything in this box and send them to you. One day you'll realize I much I loved you and tried my hardest. Until that day, I am done. She is now 30, and we have not spoken since. So, this mother and her family did something right. For the child to still want to know what happened with his father means the mother and her side of the family did everything they could to keep the father in a positive light. Because they knew one day the moment would come where her son would want to know the deal with his father.

@@5x7m that's why I'm at peace with my decision. I tried for years, took abuse, chance after chance and try after try. I know in my heart I did everything I could. But, like life, when one person admit mistakes and the other person does not, then it's time to cut it off. Not a child because children truly don't understand things, but at a certain age they should know. I decided she should know. So, the cut off was in order.

@Keepdapocket
@Keepdapocket 4 жыл бұрын
@@cocainejackson918 I understand your point of view. However, when you go 20 plus years of taking abuse, smart comments, lies and deceit from not the child's family and the child, yet still say nothing, still go to every function, etc., there comes a point where your child is grown. Never mind you, she was talking to me as if she were grown for years with a smart mouth and disrespectful comments. Yet, I still ate it. Now, my thinking was this: "she is young. She is brainwashed and doesn't know any better. It will be better when she is grown and is able to communicate. So, just stay the course and keep quiet". That's what I did. She became a woman, and the disrespectful comments and smart mouth never stopped. So, it was time she knew the facts. Not my side or her families side. The actual facts. Documents, tapes, etc. There was no scolding. It was showing her e everything she has been told and/or thought wasn't true. Yet and still, disrespect. Well, at some point, she has to get treated like a grown person. I will MEVER let any of my children talk to me like I'm their friends. And, every black person knows this saying, "if you want to act grown, I'll treat you like you're grown". That's not scolding. It's I've tried, tried, tried. And, whether it's my child, wife, or anyone else, if I try to rectify something and you aren't willing, then I now out gracefully. I've come to you, now if you want, you come to me. I chased for years,.now you can chase. That's not scolding. That's setting your standard.
