Not on the same page as making a MRE but I used to come up with food items in department stores when shopping with my late wife. Even in the women’s section of Kohl’s or Dillards I’d see food items I’d imagine as "survival food" in the event you were trapped in the store after hours. Crazy right? Fiji water was everywhere so beverage covered. There were multiple bougie chocolate bars or bites available so désert was covered. Expensive nuts or nut mixes were often there as well. Walk around snack done. I don’t seem to recall much of anything that could be considered an entree or side dish. There would be seasoning mixes and other dry stuffs in the housewares section and usually a microwave or toaster oven on display that could be plugged in to heat things up, if needed. Strange how my mind passed the time while accompanying her on a shopping trip. If you’re ever in the same situation keep your well trained eyes open for these things. You never know when you might be forced to survive in a department store !😂

I have an emergency ration. There are Goobers which is mixed peanut butter and grape (or strawberry) jelly. The Walmart version is called Stripes, costs about $1 less, grape jelly only and comes in a plastic (Goobers is glass) jar so it won't beak on you. It weighs 16 ounces, has 2,100 calories and 50 grams of protean. Sorta like the WWIII D ration, can be eaten with a spoon, does not really need a drink to consume it. Not a satisfying meal but provides a day's calories in a very small package. Keep these for emergencies like getting really stranded in my truck.

What a fun video! No adds however. That hatch chili/ chocolate bar had me thinking of mole sauce for chicken. Question: could the nut can be used as an impromptu tea/ coffee mug? Question: Have you done a video from H Mart? They sell boxes of the individual rice cups ( 12 pack). ( white or brown). We use this ready to eat/ heat rice all the time and their cost there is $1/bowl ( $12 actually because the boxes have 12 cups of individual rice bowls). They often have them on sale for $9.99. We reuse the rice containers for disposable cereal bowls, sprouting containers and cat food/ water bowls. The rice cup container is as useful as the rice! 🙂

Hi DBA. It's not clear to me. When you were at World Market, did you spend much money? On a serious note, I didn't know World Market was still in business. The one near me also closed years ago.

Vegemite is something that would be useful from World Market and will last some time can used on cracker or survival bread. Salty snack filled with high B vitamin content. Jar will last a long tine. Its used by spreading really thin because its strong.

Normally on toast with layer of butter and then a thin coating of of Vegemite or Marmite. It's butter and salty so sparing is how it's eaten. Grew up on it my mother was a Aussie war bride.

Alright! I ordered the omelet and damn that was tasty. The 'local' World Market (30 mins each way) so I don't have the wife problem.😅😅 How they figured how to microwave a STEEL container is beyond me. Pull the tab off completely, Ground shipping was $9 for 3 bowls, so not bad. Oh did I say it was tasty?

It was difficult to see the small "stick" on your finger but I think it was tamarind. Beautiful Bride and mother-in-law often make a tamarind soup for our table and we will find small bits that appear much like the unidentified item you displayed. That seasoning is common here in SE Asia.

So out of curiosity how does skipping the longer advertisements hurt creators? Do creators get paid a extra amount if we suffer through the extra long advertisements?
@dadbudgetadventures7 ай бұрын
My understanding is that it doesn’t hurt (not like quitting the video part way in) but the longer you watch the more pennies they give me. So it’s not an algorithm thing as much as a watch time thing.

To me a good MRE contains breakfast ,lunch and dinner. Toilet paper, napkin,wet wipe,pork and butter knife
@dadbudgetadventures7 ай бұрын
If it’s a 24 hour MRE it would definitely have all those things. Most MREs are single meal kits though. As far as accessory kits, I don’t usually make a deal about those because they don’t come from the store that’s being featured in the video.

The lesson I learned from this video is to prep your MRE's from Walmart and to save World Market for looting after the Zombie Apocalypse. Your challenge now is to go back to Walmart and prepare an MRE which costs as much as World Market and compare the gourmet quality.
@dadbudgetadventures7 ай бұрын
I could almost do a 24 hour MRE for that cost. A single meal at that cost would be epic!
