My brother and Sister in Law have a stairway leading down to his basement entry from their driveway. This three-foot concrete hole is a hazard and has the potential to injure someone. They requested that I help them out.
I was able to build a a really nice railing around it, with a handrail leading down. All within local codes and meeting the design and style of his exiting decks.
Speaking of exiting decks, the one on the rear of the house had sustained some fire damage, and the railing were not up to code. the railing on his front deck were also in need of redesign, and both decks needed to be given some much needed maintenance by screwing everything down, and repairing/replacing rotted items.
The entire project took me less than a full day, even battling temperatures nearing 100 degrees!! for about $200 in material from Home Depot. I am really happy with the results and so was by Brother and Sister in Law!
