So Stromae’s mother is Belgian Flemish and his father was Rwandan Tutsi and was killed during the 1994 genocide in Rwanda when Stromae (real name Paul Van Haver) was a young kid. Some other great songs to check out from him are Formidable, Tous les Mêmes, Quand c’est?, and his newest releases, Santé and L’enfer

Damn that's horrible I had to read up on it because I've never heard of it. I hope he doesn't blame him for not being there because it sounds like he was talking about his own experience. Maybe he's seeing other families doing this?🧐

@@mheiligm0113 Stromae has said that he barely saw his dad even when he was alive as he lived in Rwanda whilst Stromae lived with his mother in Europe. Stromae’s dad apparently left pretty soon after he was born. Saying that, Stromae’s said that his songs aren’t fully autobiographical but this is clearly something he has experience with

@@silentnytube From what I've seen, his father went back home in order to start up an architectural business, leaving his wife and Stromae in Belgium. When he was killed in the genocide, his mother was unable to tell him because he was very young so she simply told him that his father was "away", and Stromae didn't learn the truth about what happened until he was around the age of 12. Hence the lyrics about counting the amount of times he asked where his father was, and how he was told that he was away at work. This song is super deep, both in figurative meanings about the lack of children with fathers, and his own personal experiance of growing up without a father

Not typical French language music. It's also performance art and poetry, (there's a lot of play on words, double meanings etc), and the Belgian artist Stromae says his latest album multitude is inspired by music from around the globe. It's a unique mix of catchy and dark with an element of WT* surprise. His stage name is an anagram of maestro. Maybe meant as a joke but he is amazing.

For ya next Stromae reaction (let's be honest, no one can listen to just 1 Stromae song😄) you can have your pick: L'enfer (hell): his latest single talks about anxiety and suicide. Dropped 3 weeks ago and already at 21 million views on YT Formidable: epic social experiment filmed on candid camera Tous les mêmes: gender stereotypes portrayed as never seen before Quand c'est: Cancer Santé: his first single after a 7 year hiatus, celebrating those who are usually over looked

As a french person I think I can speak on this. This is very french (Stromae is from Belgium but his music is part of the electro movement that was born in our country thanks to big musician, JM Jare, Daft Punk, Justice, Guetta ect). Our music isn't squeeze box and violin. It's electro, african and arab influences, political rap and acoustic guitars

I love Stromae! His lyrics are so meaningful and sometimes you want to dance because of the beat but cry at the same time because of the lyrics. I highly recommend for everyone to watch a video. There is on his KZbin channel his full concert in high quality with lyrics and it so nice! I discover a lot of his songs and it's really good to see him live, dancing and his expressions!

That memories that stay while they grow up. If I can make a request: Any video **Leçon** of Stromae, like "Humain à l'Eau" could be great. They are hilarious.

He imagined a "dad" and every time he saw outside mother/daughter or Father/son dancing together , he's amazed and want that. But, his imagination only show a doll who don't move. And when at the end, this doll dance with him, in fact, it's in his imagination because we saw him dance alone and the doll been in the car.

It is about his father not being there for him when he grew up. His Belgian mother told him his Rwandan father was a travelling businessman. Because she could not tell him the truth: that his father was killed in the massacres between Hutu and Tutsi. So he always was waiting: for a father, that never existed. And to find out he was lied to by his mother. Out of love. Now, thats enough tragedy to make a grown man cry.

as a person who speaks French fluently I understood the song. I explain to you; He doesn't sing about losing his father, he sings about living without his father and asking where he is. You yourself did not understand the meaning of the song. He said in an interview. His father died in Rwanda during the genocide. And he grew up without a father. And his mother didn't immediately tell him the real reason. The song, of course, is about him looking for his father. But those who know Stomae’s biography, that’s why they write like that.😉

you know you was saying "i was not expecting that of french music" there is NO "french music" we have metal, rock, rap, eand MANY more style, i think the only ones i had never heard of here are country/bluegrass/rockgrass and traditional musique of other country ( exepte celtic music ( and even cetic rock and celtic rap) that are linked to one trench region and UK! After yes there is one style that is more common here and it's "lyrical" songs song with very stronf lyrics ( you could say this song (stromae is NOT french but belgium) is one of them but not with the " common music" in this style ( that we call " variété française" ( french variety))!

If you're looking for more inspiration for European Wednesday (I think I saw in your playlists you do this on Wednesdays? - I've only just come upon your channel) you should check out Tamino, another Belgian artist. His voice is out of this world, his range is so impressive an captivating. His dad is (one of) Egypt's most popular musicians, and you can tell that it's in his genes. His music takes inspiration from the Egyptian or Arabian sound, and it just takes you on a trip. Should you wanna do a reaction on him, I'd recommend Habibi or Indigo Nights

When he was dancing with his dad, it was the kid imagination, you can see the dad (the dummy) just sit in the driver seat watching him dancing. But I see that you didn’t peep that. He was not actually dancing with him. At the end it’s very sad, he became a statue just like his dad. I really hope Stromae could explain to his fan what’s the meaning of that for him. In my opinion he probably think when get older he’s gonna be like him.

Yes... For a long time, fathers were nothing... But these years... I'm a mother and I lost my daughters as I didn't do anything except loving them and forgot my carrier for them.... I lost them because now fathers have all rights and I 'm just the one who gave life... Did you take us everything men? So just do babies by yourselves! I was a good mother, giving all I had for my daughters... You will never know what it is to be a mother, a good one! Now I hate men for that... And judges

I understand your frustration. Each state is different when it comes to who wins divorces or custody. For example where I live, women will win 90% of the time. However, they're are cases where it's the opposite and I'm sure it's vexing. I don't believe having a generalized hate towards men is healthy. That's vice versa for men who hate all women because of their "privileges". In the end, You're still there loving mom till the end and I hope you're at least able to see your kids. Prayers and love to you and your kids Isabelle.👋🏾

6:18 Exactly , you have a good mindset. Most peoples have it wrong about when he says 'Evryone knows how to make baby's, but nobody knows how to make daddy's' - its so deep. If a baby is born its everything or you must show/pretend that its everything in life, evrybody tals about it like : Oooh look what a cute baby , oooh look his smiling , ooh h oooh all women talk about baby's then and then complaining the dad doesn't do his work, but as dad never been appreciated or getting support, the feel that you are necessary. Its also about dads leaving moms with kids, always using the kids as excuse hat the dad is always wrong. can dads be dad like they want or only like themom+kid decides how they must play their role , so their own freedom of beiing somebody they want to be is Fucked, thats why me as a men I want a kid but no women , only a girl from distance to have sex and such. most men that have kids and live together with kids and women are theirfore assholes / brainwatched , lying to themself and not being honnest to themself - a men is never created to be in prison at home, and on that they are mostly a asshole mentallity to men that never had or don't have kids. Fuk I hate this plant

I see what you mean and why you would be frustrated. I believe a mother and father being present are both equally important. Plus they should play there Own roles where not one is more important than the other. There are times men get treated terribly but there are other times when men just don't want that responsibility. Then the mom has to go above and beyond. Vice versa for both genders. I think for you though a mother should be there, if you do have a kid in the future. Not to say a single parent couldn't work out. Just the kid would miss out on having a mother's embrace. So, If you're old enough it's your responsibility to know what type of woman you want in your life and the kid's. I hope I made sense with all that 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
