The problem with spanking isn’t “the ppl that went overboard” it’s teaching someone that hitting is an appropriate response to something upsetting. Consider the other rule you uphold : it’s ok to be mad, it’s not ok to be mean. You say it’s not appropriate for kids to hit when they’re upset, why is ok for you?

Spanking is not something I want to do with my kid, but when my parents spanked me- it really let me know that I crossed the line on some items
