I just don't know what to say. Daft Punk had ended their career. It is UNMEASURABLE how these guys had shaped my life forever. They were the reason why my love for music grew into a huge and colossal being that it is today. Without the grooves of their earlier albums such as Homework and Discovery, the infectious hooks of Human After All, and the insatiable funk of Random Access Memories, I COULD NOT IMAGINE what would I be today. They were my refuge back when I was a kid. I had invested thousands upon thousands of hours of my childhood just putting on my earphones and listening to their music. The troubles of life seemingly faded away as I jammed on their music. Thank you, Thomas Bangalter & Guy Manuel de Homem-Christo, for giving me the gift of music. I will forever cherish your influence on my life forever. Thank you, Daft Punk.

i feel bad i need to pay my respects again, i already wrote this but it's never gonna be the same without them i'm still tearing up... they introduced me to electronic music and made my LOVE for music that i have now, I remember in 2012-2013 when I was just 6-7 years old and my sister showed me their songs for the first time, i literally fell in love, I can't even say how much their music means to me, so many memories... I can't believe it and i wasn't ready for this it really came out of nowhere, I can't even imagine what today's music would sound like without these legends, they changed so many things in the game... imma go listen to within and instant crush and cry all night once again 😭 thank you. I guess the only thing i can be happy about is the fact that they ended this duo on good terms and they left us with all these good songs, their music will live on 🥺❤ Merci.

“Alive 2007” is more impressive technologically and as a mashup, but this has a lot more going on in terms of actual live performance. They’re putting in a lot of work by constantly changing the beat and percussion, and introducing different effects, so that it never feels repetitive. This is why a lot of people consider “Alive 1997” to be superior. I wish they’d return to doing some all-analogue sets again just for old times sake, because that’s what they excel at best. The older technology allows them to be more active with mixing, and none of their older shows sound the same. Never heard any DJ’s put in more work into a live set than these guys.

That repetition and *high-energy* is what put the "punk" in Daft Punk. Back when they were considered probably electro-breakbeat or something. They came out with Homework (for most people I knew) which was more polished then I dunno if they released another whole album? Anyways, then did this rowdy, peak-experience inducing 'ecstatic' throwback. :#

I've narrowed it down to two reasons why their live shows are called 'Alive': 1. 'Alive', the song on 'Homework', is in fact a remix of the first ever song they recorded as a duo, 'The New Wave'. 2. 'Alive' is quite similar to 'live'. :P
