**UPDATE BELOW** My husband and I met nearly 12 years ago. He introduced me to daft punk and I've always loved their music. We are now eclectic our first little boy in May 2020. I play this song on my phone and put it up to my belly for him to listen to. Backed can hear when they're not born yet and I've heard many women say that if they played certain music to their belts during pregnancy, the familiar sound settles the baby when they are crying for no apparent reason So I want to test this theory. Also no son of ours will dislike daft punk 😂😂 **UPDATE** First of all, thanks everyone for the support and the comments asking for updates and checking in. Really nice of you all. Baby boy is now 1 year old so no longer a baby but a toddler. We haven't played much daft punk recently so I was curious to see how he'd react to daft punk. He's a bit grumpy today but seems to be really enjoying watching the animated music video from interstella555 on the TV. Settled him right down actually. I imagine I should have played it more consistently to have a better effect. But it's definitely true, babies form associations with music when played to them in the womb 🥰

This however, is what it actually feels like. No more shitty break up songs, they are so overdone to the point where it doesn't feel genuine. And the positive ones are rare, and mainstream positive ones are always so... forced...
@donnycorn30862 жыл бұрын
now this hits quite hard. Daft Punk's songs are, if you notice, quite far from perfect. They do not convey emotions at every single part of the entire song, but rather either an added layer of melody or repeats. A big risk, but when done right, will give the song its unique character. That's when i like to call it "let the sound do it for the lyric". some that goes the same with this are Porter Robinson's work, namely Musician from his album Nurture and Shelter in collab with Madeon. Both repeats the melody for the entire song's duration and gave out that character of the song; one bout the passion of making music and joy, other a letter of love from the ones before the children. and in shelter's case, the vocal chops are "ay, i will, ay~", confirmed by Porter himself. Put it in with or without context of the MV, you can sense the dialogue of the song alongside Madeon's singing, giving away the existence of humanity within the song.

Then one day when I was 10 years old it was playing in a shop and then click! my subconscious activated the buried but not forgotten memory and I knew, in an instant this was that song to the video. Then I found it again when I was 12 in a CD full of random songs, that my dad got and I never forgot the name of this song. And the best part for me, was finding out the name of the album is called Discovery.

My personal favorite Daft Punk song overall, it's really got that nostalgic vibe to it to a time I was never born yet felt mystical in its instrumentals and its robotic yet emotional vocals.
@louise_rose Жыл бұрын
Yes, I remember when this was playing on the radio and at nightclubs - of course I bought the single, too - and the feeling of joy and musical excitement it carried. For me the nostalgic element is much to do with those 1970s-style keyboards and vocals (many people wrongly think they sampled Supertramp, they didn't but the electric piano break at 2:45 is very close to the Tramp's classic single "Dreamer" and that kind of piano was heard on lots of tracks during the disco era). I remember hearing The debut album of Flash & the Pan (from 1979, the same year as that George Duke sample) when it was fairly new and it has a similar filtered sound, groovy yet liquid and transparent, laid back yet pulsating....

This song is so powerful to me. I heard this song in the car with all my cousins and it reminded me of the times we all had when we were kids. Before their mom (my aunt) passed away and when we were just young and innocent and didn’t have any worries. Now I’m 18 and my oldest cousin is 22 and his younger sister is 18 too. It used to just be us together... now all of us are grown and distant. When that part comes up where it says “oh, I don’t know what to do”. That’s exactly how I feel right now.
