I was there, on stage. I remember meeting Colin and Brian during the show, and hanging out with Colin. Ray of Youth of Today was there too. Somehow I ended up on stage singing some backup vocals. It was a cool experience for a 16 year old. Can I Say was one of my favorites back then. I still like it.

Dude that’s really awesome. It seems like maybe there’s not a lot of folks out here, decades on, that just from those couple of lines will know a little something of what that must have felt like. For me, that would have been like “oh and then me and my mates sang backing vocals with Zeppelin at Wembley” or something. I guess what those bands meant to the weirdo sliver is hard to translate. But I appreciate that story a lot, what a great show that must have been. Thanks.

@@jakecarlo9950 The scene was awesome back then and accessible- I got to meet a lot of characters ... no one was making tons of money or famous- they were appreciative of you liking their music.

My band Phantasm was on this bill. I remember watching Brian Baker during sound check and being in total awe that he was standing in front of me.

Thank you for this absolute gem! 1987 was the year I got into the band. And this has been my favorite lineup ever since I bought Wig Out At Denko's in winter '88.

I see Pat Dubar and Patrick Longrie doing back ups on Values Here! They're sitting by where Brian Baker is. Porcell and Ray too. So many people at this show that were in bands, did zines for the next 20+ years. Sick. You can also hear the trademark Dubar vocals, haha! They were on this show too. It's just cool to see all the connections and people in legendary bands admiring each other's work.

Saw them that year with Soulside in San Diego. Great show. It was crazy. Pillsbury Hardcore and Christ on Parade were the opening acts. I think, Dr. Know might have even been on the bill. JACKIE Robinson YMCA. 👍 22:36 and 23:00 Baker throws in some pretty cool guitar solo stuff. He is so good. The crowd looks stunned and a little quiet after that. Like “can we do that in punk?” WIG OUT! The next weekend was RKL! 🤯

I saw them live in Lancaster, Pa around this time period. It was the Summer of 1988, their drummer was different that tour. He had longer black hair, and I had heard that he was the drummer in Samhain. I was 14, and that was my first show. Thanks for posting this. Brings back memories, and this is actually great quality for the time period.

Dude *that* was your first show - awesome! Walked into pure gold there. Majkes me think of my first show, a terrible NY hardcore knockoff that had the gall to take a Bad Brains song title as their name that we drove down from rural Pennsylvania to see because they had a track on the first Revelation sampler. It was at the Safari Room, one of the wall-holes of legend in DC back in the 80’s, the only time I was ever there. It was a completely mediocre show in every way, but felt to me like I’d walked on to a movie set. Anyway, appreciate the flashback, cheers.

OK stop everything. If you’re reading this and have not done so already go immediately to @39:00 . OK so nobody else in these comments has mentioned this right? You’re telling me that for the encore they came out and… I mean, I don’t even know how to describe these two minutes of pure irony, born in the crucible of DC punk rock - which, to be clear, I had no part of, other than as a ‘fan’ in the most degraded, pathetic sense that word can be taken… Literally, geophysically, was a distant spectator from a regionally proximate cornfield - and I’m serious about the corn. It was actual corn. There was a field of it. That’s where I lived. - but even a ridiculous hick like me can’t miss the hilarity here - I mean honestly, I don’t even really get the joke! At some level, like I’m aware, the old singer is a ridiculously earnest Bostonian puritainical guru figure or something, blah blah blah, and like what the significance of 12XU is as an adopted DC calling card cover has always escaped me, cause at first the name alone is like oh that’s a perfect DC cypher, but then just offhand trying to hear the words I was like “wait what - is that vaguely threatening and evil?” … So look, I put all that in there just say that like if there’s literally just one other person in the whole of the Internet that finds those two minutes utterly hilarious, even if we’re not all the way in on the joke… ah it would be good not to be alone with these dusty arcana.
