A good fundamentals parallel is math. You can’t learn algebra without addition, and then multiplication.

The thing about watching art videos instead of drawing. I can draw a HUGE parallel to the skill level system in project zomboid. You have skill books for things like carpentry, cooking, farming, and fishing. when you read the books, you gain an xp multiplier for two levels of that skill. You must level up two ranks to be able to read the next book to get a multiplier for the NEXT two levels after that. It goes like this: reaserch plenty but you only get actual experience from the action, not the research, once you have enough to be able to do simple things, you do those simple things until you are good at it, THAT is when you research the next step. In short, don’t jump from squares to figures in 30 minutes, or the same research session.

This is a really, really, well made video. Im a Games Designer, so i’m not just studying art, but also programming and psychology, so i’ve always feared how to fit all of this stuff in, how to break it all down and actually learn it all. I knew what I needed to learn, but didn’t know how to go about it beyond “gesture drawing and anatomy”. If you’re at university there should be free classes you can go to where you can draw from a model in person. This is very useful to get a better understanding of depth imo, I do about 2 hours of this a week. Otherwise, there may be other places you can go to, to do this. I also know some people learn from using a mirror.

Sry but you got this good in one year?! I have been drawing for 6 and a half months and i cant even do a face in every angle yet... Must be nice to have talent without even realising it... 😅

I drew shapes, failed again and again for an hour, cried for 30 minutes and gave up...this as been hapening for weeks if not months since i "came back" to art, stopped for 2 years...and even before, i drew a circle and cried, why? Because failure...just because failing is something that make u go down as quick as a rock, your video is incredible, i love your art, your advices are amazing but i am not progressing, but im gonna keep trying, and not progress and i know it. Thank you, keep doing videos, have seen the improvement of other people trough your videos. But for now...my journey is out of the railing

Okay, so I think I'm alright... (aka horrible) at hands... I think my brain is of the persuasion that human hands match monkey hands... LIKE I CAN NEVER HAVE GOOD THUMB PLACEMENT! And I have ugly fingers, so as usual I want my characters hands to be prETtY hands... So I can't use my own hands as a reference. Although, this lesson helped me out a bit.
