And here I am in Australia planning on taking a few months worth of holidays to try find a 69 Charger and someone to work on it for a bit while I'm there. The reason being because I don't want to fork out close to 50k for a rusted rolling shell with no good body panels. A clean example fetches 140k here easy.

Hi George. Three times I clicked on the thumbs down to see how many people did not like this video because it did not give a number like the thumbs up does. Just out of curiosity, and to understand. A thumbs down does not give a people count. It sends a report to Nick's Garage, I guess? Sorry for testing the thumbs down button. I regret my curiosity. Its been a long week. Who could not like? This is my #1 site that I look forward to every Friday evening to watch after every hard week of work. It reminds me of the saying, "Curiosity killed the cat"

Interesting question about the thumbs down button. It used to keep track of the number, but KZbin made some changes and removed the counter. We do get a percentage report in our analytics, likes to dislikes. We’re proud to say that most of our videos get well over 99% likes. 👍

Love watching your channel, the passion you put into your machines is something you don't see much anymore. My first car was a 70 Charger that I got by trading a dirt bike for it, no motor but a trip to our local junk yard got me a 440 magnum for $90 and another $75 for a 727 Torq flight, I stripped down the motor and sent the block to the machine shop for cleaning, cam bearings and freeze plugs, I was 16 at the time, every day I came home from school and worked on it, all stock with the exception of headers, the day I got my license is the day I registered the car and took it for the first drive with my older brother who was a Mopar enthusiast, man I wish I still had that car!!!

Hi Nick, and George., I just finished watching Mondays video, and the 440 made the HP I expected from the parts that he chose. I think that I would have gone with an AVS2 650 CFM, much easier to work on than the TQ copy. At least you don't have to remove the carb to change the secondary jets. Mark will have a nice cruiser with plenty of power for the street. There is always something different on Nick's Garage the best channel on KZbin!!!

Without the dyno readout on the air/fuel ratio, Mark could easily have burned up his pistons, as Nick pointed out. A dyno test fee is worth the money spent just to get the carb dialed in correctly and the same for the ignition timing. The 6-number metering difference with what they started with and what they ended up with was pretty significant

It never ceases to amaze me how easy it is to work on an engine when its on a dyno. And how precisely you can dial in a carburetor and distributor, etc. With Nick's addition of an overhead camera right above the carb, you can troubleshoot any fuel mixture problems on them. I remember a couple of times on previous engines when the engine was running way lean, and it turned out to be a clogged fuel circuit to one of the carb barrels, and that would have been enormously difficult to diagnose without the dyno and video camera. And I noticed the dyno was breathing a sigh of relief at getting back to "normal" 440s after dealing with the supercharged, EFI engine from a few weeks ago.

I prefer the AFB's or a 4160 Holley, but with the way this engine ran with that 625 vacuum secondary Demon, it is just fine... 388 H.P. and 490 ft. lb. of torque, definitely will move that '70 Charger around quite well !!! Note to track people don’t get a demon carburetor. Edelbrock does not require removal to switch metering rods, springs, or jets.

I think that ThermoQuad carb would work better on a manifold made to take the spread-bore design rather than using an adaptor plate. With that manifold, I'd stick with the Holley or go with a Carter (Edelbrock) AFB.

It appears to be a spread-bore carb on a square-bore manifold? Any reason for that - I can see it working if the seconaries aren't partly blocked, but if they are it will introduce other problems?

Add alternator, water pump belts and clutch fan, power steering and air-conditioning and the automatic 727 torque flite trans , now your 386hp is now 300hp to the wheels, it's better build knowing your powertrain loss and add that extra amount. build it with at least 440hp.

What were the numbers on the 750 carb? I had one of those Street Demon carbs. Ran pretty good when it was new. But it eventually started getting worse and worse at a national event, to the point that I took it off and put a new Edelbrock on it. Much improved. When I got home I rebuilt it and discovered the problem was that the vacuum in the carb had sucked the long, skinny gasket runners along the edge of the float bowls into the float bowls. A new gasket and some glue solved that problem.

@@Marcus-ys1hz I have to ask why you are happier with less torque and hp?
@Marcus-ys1hz
@Marcus-ys1hz Жыл бұрын
@@jebsdaddy141 Because the difference between the two carbs is very little (3.5% hp, 1.8% tq) and for the reason that a double pumper is NOT recommended for street use.
