Before a colonoscopy in Canada we have kinda a three day thing. Most of the the time a clear liquid diet for 1-2 days before and then drink the golightly (and you don’t go lightly 😂) the evening before and then the morning before if your appointment is later in the day. It is quite the procedure. And after the test I have noticed most people head for a sugary snack almost like your body needs energy right away. I am happy that your tests turned out ok. ❤
@TizianaTina2 сағат бұрын
I live in Canada also and was surprised to see the diet the day before as well. Here, as you say, its a liquid diet and a "cleanse" of some kind the day before. Lots of washroom time. Possibly its different if they are checking her stomach?

Hello, dear Lou. I have heard the Japanese medical system is better than what we have in the US, overall. I don't know if it is, but its obviously different. I had a colonoscopy earlier this year, and we are not allowed to eat ANY solid food the day before the procedure. If you do, and they find out, they will cancel it! They do require sedation, and you MUST have someone to drive you home. No exceptions. I hope you get your medical issues resolved! Love, 🌺.

I had a colonoscopy and the prep IS the worst part. I was not on anesthesia but was given something to help me relax, which by the way, knocked me out. I can't imagine that they could do it while you are totally awake since your body would be too tense. But they may do this totally dif in Japan.

I have had a colonoscopy done. I know it can seem scary, but the hardest part is the prep that you do yourself. The anesthesiologist was very good and making me feel completely relaxed. I just fell asleep and when I woke up the procedure was over. I did have to have someone drive me home but I dud not need anyone to care for me afterwards. Of course, the procedure may be different in Japan.

Hi Lou, after several months of making a very detailed food and additive plan with the physical symptoms, I was able to determine that milk products, grains and fructose (bananas, maple syrup) were causing my symptoms. Now, after about a year of strict dieting, I am doing well. Is there such a thing as a nutritionist or nutrition coach in Japan? Medication only combats the effects, never the causes.

@Gosia-zh6vd7 сағат бұрын
Hello, and thank you for for a nice video. Hope you find resolution to your health problems soon. Btw, I find that many people find the fact that colorectal and stomach cancers are so prevalent in Japan surprising, as the Japanese diet is overall deemed to be healthy. Studies link the cancers' prevalence mainly to H. pylori infections as well as the excessive amounts of salt in many common foods, not forgetting the many preservatives and additives so common in Japanese snacks and fast foods. Smoking is also a prominent factor.

I’m so sorry you have to do the colonoscopy without anesthesia. That is really not something you want to be awake for. But I hope you can determine what is causing the inflammation! Fingers crossed! Hopefully in the future you won’t have to do it without anesthesia!!! Colon health is soooo important!!

It’s interesting to learn how different countries deal with medical procedures. In Australia, we are required to eat white food 2 days before the procedure and drink Plenvuu to clear our bowels. Not fun. You might want to have a look at Golden paste. It’S good for inflammation. But you need to check if it interacts with your medication. Take care Lou. Always looking forward to your videos.

Well done for preparing so thoroughly for the test, and I am sorry that you found it painful. Here in the UK, for certain types of colonoscopy the hospital sends you an enema kit, which is fun ;-) to administer yourself, especially when you live on your own. I was really lucky in that I found my colonoscopy merely uncomfortable, not painful, and any discomfort disappeared really quickly. It was done really gently, and the medical staff were attentive and approachable. Positive mental attitude along with breathing techniques really helped, as well.

I'd say try doing the fasting. Not sure if you eat in reality like how it's shown here, if yes, work on your meal timing. Our stomach needs rest.

Sorry to bring this up. If these were both scheduled procedures and needed someone to care for you afterwards because of sedation why didn’t your boyfriend plan ahead to take you so your procedures were more pain free for you? I’m sure you would have assisted him if he had to do these! You deserve to require him to help you with things like this.

I agree. I noted in her last video she said she had to have the procedure done without proper sedation because the hospital required her to have someone there to take her home safely if she was woozy after it. Why can the hospital not keep her on the day ward and let her rest until the meds have worn off? She said her boyfriend was working. He needs to stop being selfish and PUT HER FIRST and stand up to his bosses and take a day off work to support her. He knows she has no family in Japan. He needs to man up.

Retired Nurse here. I am concerned because both an endoscopy and colonoscopy are very uncomfortable procedures without sedation. In the U.S. the hospital or Gastroenterology facility will not even schedule the procedure unless you have someone with you. It is just not done. I am wondering why Lou you are getting the procedures done at this time without sedation? Is your medical condition so urgent that the tests can't wait until your boyfriend or another friend can be with you to take you home after sedation? I don't get the rush. No judgement on your boyfriend at all. I don't know your situation. I believe it is up to the Doctor and healthcare facility to help you problem solve. If not you boyfriend, couldn't you have a friend with you?

I'm not a Doctor but since I struggled with gastrointestinal issues for many years, my family had to develop an amazing system that worked wonders for me. I had to quit wheat, sugar, milk and also anything with msg and umami that includes the soy sauces, mirin etc. I've had to retrain my taste buds and eat natural garlic and ginger, carrots, tomatoes mostly. I also stopped adding condiments to my foods. Please consider making these changes. I've tried it with many of my friends who had similar issues and the results are excellent. Its also helped us in weight management. Please not I'm not a doctor but when our guts are sick, they affect other areas.

I am glad the colonoscopy prep and procedure is finished. So sorry it and rhe previous endoscopy were painful. ☹️😢 You are brave to necessarily do it without anesthesia. Here in the USA the doctor will not do it without anesthesia and you Must have someone to take you home and stay with you for a few hours. I am aad for you that you you didn't have a freind nearby to accompany you and take you home and stay with you for a few hours (so you could have had the anesthesia). I am assuming it is because you are now in Tokyo area and your friends are in other parts of Japan (from your old job?). Also your boyfriend could not take time off work to accompany you. I know Japanese work environment is very strict and overtime is mandatory so taking time off is discouraged. I am sad it it that strict. Hopefully in the future that loosens up for workers so they feel they can ask for some necessary medical appointments time off as needed. Your meal prep and the night time display were enjoyable. I hope you get the answers needed on your health soon so it can improve. Stay strong and may God Bless you. 😃🙏

Hi Lou, I’m glad your tests went well! It’s a lot of effort, but you could try to do an elimination diet (Google autoimmune protocol (AIP) or diet. The basic idea is to exclude all of the most common inflammatory foods for a month, then slowly add them in (one every week in small amounts) and see if you react. gluten, eggs, dairy, soy, nightshade vegetables, nuts, seeds, seed spices. It’s a LOT but might help you pinpoint what’s most bothering you. Good luck!

It’s sad but I think the Japanese culture is work work work getting days off is tough or frowned upon. Probably why so hard to get someone to go with her I am guessing. It’s sad coming from our perspective in the US but I guess there its not even deemed as unusual. Here they make you get a person otherwise they won’t do the procedure

In Canada a few years ago I hired someone to be with me after I had a procedure. It was of course an extra cost but the nurse was very nice and it worked out well for me.

Lou, I admire your bravery!! I’m so scared of hospital procedures. I know it’s for our best. But I’m on my own and suffer from anxiety. I had an endoscopy a few years ago that left me traumatised for months !! This video will help me to be brave for next time. Thank you. Wish you good health !❤
