I’m sitting in line waiting to pick up my great grandchildren from school and watching this video. I always come early so I can use this time to relax and research a little. I was so happy to see your video pop up. Every time I watch one of yours I learn so much. I watch them over several times. I use some of your ideas and rule out some as they don’t fit my life. But I get ideas on how to tweak them to fit. Please keep making these videos. They inspire me so much.

This video was super helpful. I’m hoping to start on my vision board soon! And I loved this video of how you use your deck. Hearing you talk through it helps me so much. 😊

Thank you for showing how you use it during the day. Very helpful context, as sometimes I can't envision how something new to me is used in the middle of the busyness of the day.

Happily! I get it - I also look for videos of people living out what I’m trying to do myself. It helps to see it in action.

Hi Jenn, thank you for this again inspiring video. It just made me think of the fact that you gave me an idea how to accomplish my no sugar goal. I worked on that project yesterday and I accomplished the first important task today which I made €30 from. Thank you for that. Also, reading one of your comments on this video, I thought about the index card deck as a planner is a wonderful method how to learn how to focus. When you accept the challenge of being confused in the beginning, you can learn so much from it and grow personally. And the third thing I wanted to mention, when you said, you don’t know why it feels so good to accomplish the task of making your bed, I know why, it’s dopamine. Because accomplishing the task, you feel rewarded, and your brain releases dopamine, which helps you establish a new habit. Have a great day ❤

How do you make yourself do cards (like the general home maintenance) that you REALLY don't want to do? I am battling severe laziness, or procrastination... Struggling to get the things done..
@brandicrane66146 ай бұрын
Hi friend, her card system is based on the Side-tracked Home Executive book that was written in, I think, the 70s. In that system, you can skip the card up to three times. It's been a while since I read the book, but I believe on the 3rd skip, you must complete the task on the card. I hope this helps! Blessings to you on your journey! ❤

I just scrapped a video I was editing on how I get out of a rut! Ugh, I get this feeling - remember that you’ve probably pulled yourself out of that lazy feeling countless times in the past. The skipping cards rule is a gem 💎 Like my dad always said, attitude is everything. Switch how you look at your to do list - if you make it a game, where it’s less about the thing you should be doing and more about playing the game around completing it, then I’m more likely to do the thing. Whether it’s in the skipping system of knowing it will eventually get done. Or, it’s focusing on the desire to shuffle the card - or check off the to do list - versus focusing on mopping the floor. Another example of adjusting my attitude is when it comes to going to the gym, sometimes it helps me to just not overthink things - turn off my brain for a bit and let my body just follow what yesterday’s me said I was going to do. It has not been easy, but it’s becoming more of a habit 😝 A couple more things - don’t disregard accountability. I do that a lot, thinking I can willpower my way into things. I rarely can. Making videos like the ones I do has really helped me stay on target. AND, a big one for me in the past couple of months was to chill out. I did a lot of tracking and journaling with my weight loss journey, which helped me own that I was in a “season” - it’s passing, but it might take some time to get the discipline I need to get me to the place I know I can be. And as a quick side note - being really mindful of my wellness and what I am eating has helped my mind clear up a bit, making everything a little easier on me. Everyone is different, but that’s what has helped me in the past. Wishing you the very best when it comes to getting your general home maintenance done!! - Jenn

@@brandicrane6614 Thank you! I checked that book out also, and am making my way through it! I might try adding skip dates on the card, so I know for sure I need to do it, self-accountability, instead of forever shuffling it lol... blessings to you as well!

@@timeandtideplans Thank you Jenn! So true - I have been lazy before and I got out of it somehow.. I like what you said in your live video recently about willpower - and changing the way you approach a task (which you may not want to do), going deeper into the reason you are doing the things written on the card, or in your 12 week year rather than simply trying to power through it. I love the idea of making it a game (of cards), achieving my quests each day :D Thanks so much for your reply, great things to chew on in my mind - plus, chatting with you and the good folks here is really good for a motivation boost!

@bishkala132 It doesn't hurt to give yourself grace when learning a new system! And sometimes you just don't have the time to get it all done, and that's okay too! ❤️ Accountability with grace! 😉

Maybe it's my ADD, I find your method the most confusing thing. 🤷♀ Not criticizing your method, it works for you! 😄

No worries - I know it’s not for everyone ☺️

Hi friend, I currently struggle with ADHD and I totally understand your confusion. If you read the book Sidetracked Home Executive, it may help explain the system better. It is a bit more complicated trying to fit the 12 Week Year on the cards in a way that doesn't feel overwhelming, but it can be helpful once you figure out how and what works for you! 😊
