Great teasers up Andrea! Much more graceful than what I do. You've given me something to strive for now :)

Lauren Hammerle Thanks Lauren! I am happy I did the pop-up Teasers in this video. I have always been unsuccessful at them because I found it hard to get high up enough on the Spine Corrector to make it possible...so I was a bit pleasantly surprised - usually when I had done them at Continuing Education events I would end up flopping back down each time I tried - LOL. Go for it! They are definitely invigoration in an instant! xox

***** I can feel your challenge for us short people! I just practiced 3 of them and having the length with the legs reaching from the previous hip stretches definitely helps. I usually practice just "teasering up", however, this time I held the teaser and it was quite pleasant. And invigorating!

Lauren Hammerle Good for you! Yay - I knew you would rock it :) Once you get up there in the Teaser, then you have a new problem of staying there LOL...

+Jeannie Ob My Spine Corrector is made by Gratz Industries - pilates-gratz.com. There are other manufacturers that make Spine Correctors that would be different sizes, but if you get a Gratz one, there is only one size. They make a similar apparatus, the Small Barrel, that is littler, but does not have the step part. Most exercises can be done on the Small Barrel as well. I like to use both. The larger Spine Corrector is more challenging. Hope this helps :)

Hi Andrea, where can i buy the barrel you have in your video?
@PilatesAndrea4 жыл бұрын
Hi Alice - the barrel in my video is a Spine Corrector made by Gratz Industries. Here is the link to it on their site: www.pilates-gratz.com/collections/barrel-apparatus/products/spine-half-corrector If you do decide to purchase, please let them know I sent you - I don't receive any commission from them at all, but I love their stuff and want them to know it :) Thanks again for watching and for sharing your questions here with us. Keep up the good work! xox

Hi Andrea, Just received my Spine Corrector and looking on here for inspiration. I seem to have limited mobility in my back to rest my head on it when I'm facing away. Or I have to scoot forward where my lumbar is no longer grabbing the barrel. What would you suggest in this game of give and take?
@PilatesAndrea8 жыл бұрын
+Alyssa Ramey Hi there - so with the Spine Corrector you have 2 options for lying back over the barrel for the arm series. You can sit on the mat next to the hump side of the barrel (more challenging) or you can sit on the step of the barrel and lie back from that side (more manageable). See if you can err on the side of your back being more attached to the barrel even if your head is not touching the barrel - as long as it is not VERY uncomfortable. Once you start moving and doing the exercise your head may get closer to the barrel. Do just a little bit first and make sure to pick your head up with your hands supporting the weight of your head when you sit up - I show this in the video. The benefit of the exercises is to loosen up the back - the upper back is often tight and the chest needs opening - so even if your head is not on the barrel as a result of any stiffness you are working well. As you do the exercises consistently you may find that your back loosens up a bit and your head touches the barrel. I hope this helps you. Feel free to post any additional questions here if you like - or we can even have a Skype chat if you'd like me to take a look at what you're doing :)

Hi Andrea, What do you think of Arc Pilates? is it worth buying it.. or should I invest more and buy the one you are using in this video, Spine Corrector Barrel?
@PilatesAndrea4 жыл бұрын
Hi Alice! Thanks so much for watching and sharing your question here. I must give you my honest opinion. I do not like the arc barrel. I am assuming the foam one with the cutouts that is made by Balanced Body? Is that the one you mean? If so, it has a very different dimension - and probably purpose than the one I use in the video. The one I have is made by Gratz and is more expensive, but the dimensions and padding make the exercises so much more effective. I have tried to use the one you mention in a workshop setting and I found it to be supremely uncomfortable... Just my 2 cents :) Please let me know if you decide to get one!! xox and keep up the good work!

Hi! I love this video...I am a beginner, though & some of it just amazes me ;) I hope you don't mind if I ask a couple of questions regarding the spine corrector. I just recently purchased one, & I will admit it is probably not the best. But it is the Aeropilates one. I don't mind it except that on some of the exercises, particularly those when I am laying forward (stomach/pelvis) on the barrel, the padding seems a little light & it is uncomfortable. Is it ok to maybe drape a towel over it to add just a little more cushion when I'm in that position? Also, what exercises are particularly helpful for posture/forward leaning? I am in my early 40s & do not have a "hump";however, I could see it happening in my future & that was one of the main reasons I wanted this piece along with starting my journey on the reformer. Perhaps that just straightens itself out in time as you strengthen your shoulders & back muscles....but I don't know all of the physiology involved. Thank you so much for your time & for a wonderful video! ❤

Hi there - thank you so much for sharing a little bit about your Pilates journey with us here. The Spine Corrector apparatus is a fantastic addition to your collection of apparatus. And yes, placing a towel over the top if it feels uncomfortable when you are on your stomach would be fine. If you can discern why it feels uncomfortable and if the apparatus is telling you anything you should know about your body, that would be a worthwhile investigation as well. Thank you so much for watching :) The exercises where your back is on the hump of the barrel and you are sitting on the "step" would be great for postural roundedness. Place your upper back on the hump while you sit on the edge of the step - your feet can be on the mat with legs bent or they can be straight - whichever feels better for you. Give this a try - I don't think I have this version in a video - because I need to do it too and I avoid it LOL - so let's see what I can do about that... stay tuned :) and keep up the good work! xox

@@PilatesAndrea Thank you so much for your reply!! I am so excited to hear from you!! I believe the reason my body is uncomfortable in the forward position ( on my pelvis/stomach) is just because there is not enough padding on this particular apparatus. It’s like it is grinding against my bone. The towel does help to alleviate this & I can do more of the exercises. I may be wrong, but I think the padding is the issue. And I would love to see the exercises you are talking about if you show them in an upcoming video! That would be wonderful! I am really interested in working on my posture. Thank you again for everything! Stay safe & keep up your amazing work! ❤️

Thank you so much for clarifying. Yes use the towel to keep doing your exercises. I have added the Spine Corrector video to my list - so stay tuned and thanks for the request :) And keep up the good work xox thank you so much for watching!

Where can I get a spine corrector like the one you are using? Does it matter on size...are they all the same size? THX.
