There's a song for Thanksgiving in America called," Over the River and Through the Woods". There is a line,' the horse knows the way to carry the sleigh....' Many times horses travel a path frequently and will automatically take that path unless the rider or driver directs them otherwise. The rider in the fable is allowing the momentum of habit to propel him forward instead of taking charge and directing the horse ( life) himself. Many of us do this exact thing. We allow habit or forces outside ourselves; social pressure,for example to direct our actions.

I’m with you on the affirmations! Im reminded of something the Buddhist teacher Thich Nhat Hanh used to say (a kind of affirmation): “I have arrived. I am safe at home in the present moment”. I feel like it goes with this reading ☺️

I think you got it: the runaway horse is the product of all the words, deeds, habits etc carrying the man towards his destiny. I think the horse is the result of not watching all those things, since horses tend to represent instincts and impulses. My own life definitely feels like a runaway bourse 😅

I'm guessing the quote could mean that just like in life we sometimes have no idea where we're going or doing and it's with such an urgency and passion that people might assume that we know exactly what we are doing when in actuality it is the flow of life and the connectedness of the Universe which is carrying us. PS It was my best friend Robert whose birthday it was on March 2. He died of AIDS. He was an inspiration of courage, wit, acerbic humour and .... so lucky he was in my life. Horses can represent our psyche and instincts, our subconscious drives. Horses were our main mode of transportation for ages, so they're a bit analogous to vehicles, like in the Chariot card 🐎 but they're also known for being psychic and sensitive, easily spooked. Thats my take, anyways 😅 I'd interpret the fable as asking "What is driving you?"

Great reading, thank you! Maslow's hierarchy of basic human needs. Subject to much criticism as what our human needs are, what we need and want. It's a westernised lense of needs, he allegedly misappropriated it from indiginous Siksika first nation peoples. What we identify as our basic needs to feel safe, loved, connected, purposeful is based on our world view, our communities, our experiences, and uniqueness. Affirmations are hard because they are often blended with expectations.

I had to check this on google the original horse whisperer was John Soloman Rarey. The idea at the time was that wild horses had to be tamed by force . (Mick Jagger you always were an ass pun intended.) He was the 1st to notice that horses are prey not predators and matriarchal and under threat the mares protect the young and weak and any young male who is going to mess things up is driven away. He also observed that to tame a horse, who is enormous (my bro in law transported race horses by plane and weight distribution, humane killer bales of hay all came into it, he was a hero as were they) you counter-intuitively pushed them away until they came to you. (Robert Redford made a film not that bad). I've loved horses all my life to the point that a Shetland pony broke my big toe drove into an electric fence and still won out over John Lennon in the soul of a young girl (do you believe in magic....great song). My BFF from Sao Paolo loves also the song The Rivers of March Sergio Mendes Brazil ,, pick a year. Saw them live. I love this month; on the brink of Spring. much love Gemma, and by the way, tx for nothing not one person commented hope you're feeling better soon. Feeling a bit sorry for myself and wishing I was in that horse circle.
