the problem is over the decades the laws have gotten muddled and basically they can "find a violation" on any car if they want. In the end, what people forget is the Ticket is not proof of a violation but rather an officers determination that he or she believes there is a violation. That is why they say "signing the ticket is not an admission of guilt". In the end only the court can determine if evidence of a violation was sufficient. In my life I have been cited for not wearing a seat belt in a car that was not running.. (argued key in ignition was equal to running - tossed by judge); dirty front windshield which I just paid to save time, but was BS, window tint despite the tint being less than 35% because there is language that say nothing can be applied to certain window and language that says 35% tint is ok, and a handful of others. Basically the vehicle code in CA is confusing enough that they can write you a ticket for all sorts of stuff if they want to.

Most folks that drive these unless they’re over 50 yrs old, lease these cars for a yr or so, making it very affordable for someone on a 125k a yr salary provided not many bills and at least 7500/ mo income after taxes. 1400-1600/mo lease payment and 500-700 miles a month. Can pay more upfront to put more miles on it.

Cops don't like to be corrected. Many don't even fully know the laws of their state. You asked "WHY"? It should be obvious why they hassle you. The answer is two-fold: First, it is about relieving you of as much money as they can. Second, it's about control. Their personality type has a great need for being bossy & controlling your behavior. Naturally, not every cop is this way. I'm merely generalizing here, as my opinion only applies to about 75% of cops...but that percentage is creeping upward in my opinion. I think safety is a distant 3rd factor for pulling over speeders. Of course your Lambo is loud visually & audibly, so that contributes to higher scrutiny as well.

I know I’m late. But the law is if you MOVE to that state then you have 10 days to change your information and get a license for said state. Also any change in information (say you move over a couple towns) then you have 10 days to change your information on the license. At least that’s the law where I live

Be careful. If you keep getting tickets a state can declare you a negligent operator of a motor vehicle. Once that happens you will not be able to drive within the US. It will be attached to your personal info.

The best thing for me seeing these and now specifically this video...is after lockdowns end, I might be travelling to LA from time to time, and need to hire a car for business...I can see it now...been there for 3 weeks...get pulled over...they use the whole “10 days” thing...(I have a VERY full and long beard, early thirties)...I look up and smile asking “do I look 16-17 to you?”

i was in the marines, i had a michigan license and they tried to tell me i needed a california license. state law. i said the service member relief act which is federal law supercedes state law because im a federal employee i dont need a california license, i dont need to register my car in california. take your california law and eat it. federal law supercedes state law.

Why don't the police, sheriffs, and troopers have some kind of computer system via ipad, smartphone or some device that they can double check the rules first before they start making false statements about the law to people they stop. There are so many different rules like this that not every officer is going to be able to recall everything all the time. But it's no reason for them to just make up stuff on the spot either.

In the UK the cops just pull me over tell me to slow down and i'm on my way after a quick chat. Most times they don't even stop me just cruise right beside me and tell me slow down then nod my head and thats it. I'll be in a uber for sure if i visit US

As someone who trained CA cops for years, there really is not much training on the CA Vehicle Code (CVC) and licensing. Except for CHP who memorize this stuff, local officers mostly get on the job training. You are doing a service advising them. Most cops know only dozen license sections. Few have contact with foreign drivers. There are lots of people who lose their license (DUI, etc.) and go anywhere to get another Lic., incl. Canada. Asking for a passport is not for immigration, just confirms the connection to a Canada license and date of entry to assures tourist vs. CA residency established. A caution: Be careful getting too many tickets - in any state. Just six and you can accrue too many “points” to be declared a “Negligent Operator” . Even with a Canada DL, your privilege to drive in CA can still be suspended. Read up on CVC 12810, 12810.5 leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/codesTOCSelected.xhtml?tocCode=VEH&tocTitle=+Vehicle+Code+-+VEH Search the subjects you need. Carry copies for your officers. (PS- Make friends with some PD bosses.)
