The 550 roll bar should be built much tighter to the chassis so you can weld directly from the chassis to the roll bar. This will add stiffness to the chassis as well as keeping you safer.

@@Not_Hans no, the bar should fit tight against the ‘A’, & ‘B’ pillars, welded directly if possible. The floor attaching is another subject entirely. A roll bar serves two purposes, both safety, and chassis strength and this one appears mostly for looks.

@@geoffreyring1856 He discussed the bars, He didn't thoroughly discuss what he was doing. It isn't the final product. The bar is lust laying in there and not attached to the main hoop. It isn't even notched yet, then it will be sucked tight. the pillars should be gusseted to the bars, not welded directly. I am assuming here but looking at the design of the structure the reason he said he is boxing off the side is because the "frame" is the door sill and the floor pan is only just that. . He is a part of a drift team that competes on a professional race series that inspects and needs certified cages. I am assuming again but I am willing to bet this cage will be certified as well as tracks do still do inspections to drive on their track even for non professional events.

I do floor coatings for a living. Sounds like the people u got are doing it the right way. Without grinding the floor the coating wouldn’t last a few weeks. Just don’t spin the tires on it and it will look good for a long time but if u do lay some rubber it will burn the coating off very easily and then u will always see that spot even if they patch that spot it will always stick out.
