That she seems to understand him and accept him, which is surely important to the brother. Sometimes, some autistic people feel like they need to try and "mask" when they're around strangers to fit in, but this was a way of saying that she is a person he can exist comfortably around and be himself. With my experience, people with autism are some of the most genuine in their words, and I think he was saying everything in the kindest, more heartfelt way possible to honor his brother's day. @@koltonhavas6724 hi, my son is 9 and has autism. He used to have to leave the weekly family assembly at school, where merits were handed out, because of all the clapping and cheering. I’ve often wondered if things like this would get easier for him as he gets older. Thanks for sharing. My son is also quite terrified of babies and toddlers because he associates them with crying. If he sees someone crying, he says himself that it starts a “chain reaction” and he just can’t help but cry himself. He gets so distressed when it happens. I hope this is also something that he can learn to cope with as he gets older. 😊
