The police can do nothing. They are being legally forced to leave the land. As trespassers they must be asked to leave, if they chose not to, then you are allowed by law, to use reasonable force to evict them from the land. If the woman being dragged through the mud had fought back, then this would become aggravated trespass, and she would be arrested. As she had been asked to leave under her own steam, but refused to comply, then no offence has been committed by dragging her off the land, even if she had to be dragged 3 miles.

Some months ago, I was driving around country lanes in Yorkshire, with my Wife and Daughter, enjoying the Weather and Scenery when we unexpectedly came upon a Hunt. We were followed and after about half a mile, the road was blocked by another vehicle. My car was approached by 4 masked individuals, who started threatening us and accusing us of being Hunt Saboteurs. I explained that we were not interested in what they were doing and that we were doing, after about 20 minutes of threatening us, my wife and daughter physically shacking and crying, they let us go with threats of violence if they ever see us again. These thugs obviously were trying to hide something. I drove straight to the nearest police station, reported the incident, made statements and give them Dashcam video footage. I have phoned the police monthly to see what was happening with the case, the answer I get after 6 months is, “Enquiries are still ongoing .” I’ve now given up as to any action being taken against these individuals.

In my part of Leicestershire the hunt has huge support. It’s a real sight to see, shame about the reality of killing a wild animal. I grew up on a farm in Scotland close to a kennel, I didn't like the Hunt!! But I do agree that the fox population needs to be kept in check!! But I find the Fox hunt brutal on the foxes and done by toffee nosed Cxxts. A high-powered rifle with a thermal scope is a very quick and painless way to cull foxes. It's absolutely instant. It is not just fox hunting in which the landowners (who often may not be very wealthy) think that they can do what they like, and often do get away with it. I live in a county which has a remarkably low population density for anywhere in England and Wales. There is nowhere here where someone can lawfully dispose of asbestos, as has been required by law under Environmental Protection Act 1990. That act makes it compulsory for it to be disposed of by a licensed disposal site. If you find a deposit of it here, you can use Freedom of Information Act 2000 to ask for a list of all such unlawful deposits in the county. What you get back is a list of all the licensed disposal sites outside the county but in adjacent ones. There simply are not enough enforcement officers to deal with rural delinquency in respect of unlawful footpath and minor road closures, waste disposal of all kind, sewage dumping and fox hunting and pheasant shooting. You have to be quite clever to get away with being a criminal in the city, whereas in the country you have to be extremely stupid and unlucky to get caught at all.

The actual details are even worse that what is shown here - i.e., the dogs are destroyed, as well. They are bred from the start specifically for fox hunting to be aggressive hunters by a kennel. And once they are no longer effective hunters, they are brought out one by one, shot in the head, and thrown unceremoniously into a bin. It was caught on video and I think there's a copy online here. These are not lap dogs; they exist for the hunt. Aside from the killing aspect of this pursuit, of both foxes and the dogs, all of this is done at considerable expense. There's the large estate, plus the cost of the kennel and training, plus stabling of the horses. And I could go further, getting into the hierarchical aspect to the whole pursuit.
